June Thoughts

Perhaps one of the most challenging factors in the proper care and feeding of an author is dealing with the enormous amount of stuff associated with the writing craft. Sure, there are maps, and manuscripts, but for each book David has written, we have recieved 10 - 20 complimentary copies. Sounds great, huh? But that means we get copies of all the hardbacks, the paperbacks, and each foriegn language edition...for each of David's (over 50) releases! Then, of course, you have to factor in all of the reference books, the Baen books that wander our way, and the fact that both David and I have extensive book collections...

Well, we won't run out of anything to read soon!

The kids are getting to the point that they are really starting to enjoy reading, and they are really excited that David has written a book about a younger protagonist. But, interestingly, when I was reading over it the other day, I came to the conclusion that "A Beautiful Friendship" really has a little something for everyone in it. You certainly can't classify it as your typical cookie-cutter "coming of age" story. I'm really excited about its release. I keep asking when I'm going to get my own treecat...maybe that can be a Christmas present?
