Who would make a good Honor Harrington in a Movie/TV role?

You may not have known, but Angelina screwed up RFC's attempts at adoption in SEA, and despite the deliberate attempt in Sky Captain (the similarity wasn't an accident), her arrogance and lack of courtesy towards all those who were going through proper channels were all RFC needed to know, that however much she might look like HH, HH would never have acted that way, to say the very least.

NOT based on her Tomb Raider role, although that's a good solid basis for the character, but based on her role of "Franky" Cook in "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow". She looks half Asian already. She even has the eyepatch (even if it IS on the wrong eye!)

Every time I watch that DVD, I can't help but think, "she's halfway there now." The attitude, mannerisms, bearing, command authority all seem to already be present. The only thing that seems to be missing is Nimitz!

How about we just go with Angelina Jolie is almost too old? Certainly is too old for any chance of a subsequent reprise.

Also as an A-list personality who is a producer and screenwriter in her own right, casting her (even if she were interested in a potentially decades long project for other producers) would almost certainly delay the film 1-2 years in order to fit with projects already on her schedule. Just look at how long it took Peter Jackson to get Hobbit out the door, and it was one of his top priorities for a decade - he just didn't have enough hours in the year to fit it in.

And, oh yeah, I'm pretty sure David would have a fit.
Don't know about the adoption interference story, but I do know that he has said she doesn't fit his own idea of Honor.

At one time he said he kinda liked the style that Claudia Christian brought to her Ivanova character, but she is fairly short, and also 10 years older than Jolie.

Look for the casting of someone in her mid- to upper-twenties, a "rising" talent but not yet A-list, who can be signed to a contingent series contract. Someone who is at about the same place in her career as Elijah Wood was when he signed for LOTR, or for that matter where Jolie was when she signed for Tomb Raider. Oh, and I suspect that whoever it is will probably be at least 5'8".

Of currently visible actresses I can think of, Cobie Smulders (How I met Your Mother, Avengers) (5'8"), or Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) (5'9.5") might be good fits.

To all those who took offense at my initial post, all I can do is plead my ignorance of the whole situation and say I am sorry.

I don't know what "RFC" and "SEA" are, so that is a bit confusing too.

My initial post was MY thoughts as to who could do the role. If Mr. Weber has a problem with her, well, as I said, I did not know. No offense meant - to anyone.

RFC = RunsForCelery AKA (Also Known As) David Weber when he's posting here.

SEA = South East Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, general term for that area of the world)

Edit: I wouldn't worry about thinking you've offended anybody. As you said, you didn't know, and how *would* you know unless you ask (or in this case, mention)?

Also, I hated Sky Captain, even before I knew the story. In fact, I've detested almost everything Jolie has ever done.

I think the martial arts stuff is going to be one of the first things cut from the movie. It seldom contributes to the story in a major way aside from saving Benjamin in HotQ.

I'd prefer someone who can act first. If she can't bring off the charisma, leadership, and intelligence that Honor displays, her height and how close it is to Honor's physical description isn't going to matter.
