Well changed from this morning, median age of Safehold fans is 50 from 43 responses, and from 48 responses in Honorverse its in the 40s. Note the Safehold number is from less than 2% of total possible registered users (23 registered users per percent), the more responses the better the number. Also we are rabid fans not the typical book purchaser. Those who have not answered the poll please do the more responses the better the number.

Edit, just had another response total 44 still median = 50s however.

I'm 23, but I have been a fan of the series since I was 19. MWW does an excellent job with them :)

Interesting...
In the first 12 hours, the voting was heavily weighted toward 50's and 60's, with few under 40. Now after 24 hours, it is weighted towards 20s and 30s, and the number in the 50s and 60 has not changed much. Does this reflect time zone differences, or how frequently different age groups check the forums, or how readily different age groups respond?

It could be as simple as us old fogies still being up that late at night. The youngsters went to bed to get their beauty sleep while we realized that doesn't work for us any more (if it ever did).

i went to a book signing and i'm 39 but the crowd skewed older it seemed.

With at least 69 responses or 3% of all registered members Well the median age is in the 40s for both Safehold and Honorverse now. Quick and dirty way to get the median or the age age in middle: take number of responses and divide by two,

IE for Safehold: 75/2=37.5 Add responses from either end till you find the group where that middle is IE 70s 4 80s 8 50s 14 40s 12

4+8+14= 36 < 37.5 +12=46 > 37.5 therefore median in the 40s.

for Honorverse: 73/2= 36.5 Adding responses from either end, I'll go from 70s down 70s 5, 60s 10, 50s 14, 40s 16

5+10+14 = 29 < 36.5 + 16 = 45 > 36.5 therefore median age is in the 40s

Technically there is a problem the way you have the age brackets set up. Your method of calculating the approximate median works if all age brackets are the same size. However, the bottom two age brackets are different from all the rest. However, the effect is currently too small to matter, since both of those brackets have only one person.

What I find more interesting is that the mode (or most common bracket) is 20s for Safehold and 40s for Honorverse.

Using 12 as the value for the 12 and under, 80 for the 80 and up, and age range averages (X4.5 since the bracket is X0-X9) I get an average of 45.3 for Honorverse and 42.4 for Safehold.
