It might help if you would link to a higher resolution image rather than just show the low-res thumbnail when you can't see any detail. It also wouldn't hurt to tell us WHICH of the 20-odd books you are commenting on... it takes awhile to find the referenced images just scrolling around all over the original cover compilation.

The French cover for HotQ makes Honor look like Napoleon in drag:
Also, isn't it odd that, given Honor's part-Asian ancestry, the Japanese anime-style covers all make her look like a round-eye? My faveorite cover is Shadow of Saganami. |

Chief, "Well tech critics we have in gross lots, but few art critics are few. Hey Mange did you catch this one:"
Mange, <Yes I quite agree you two-legs are strange, I didn't get the joke?> "Ah, well, um, in the western states of the old United States on Terra they had a lot of sheep herders, and when they got lonely for female companionship [deleted as this is a PG site]. Anyway since all the western states have sheep herders it's a common joke "[Pick a Western State] where men are men and sheep are nervous, see?" <Not a very funny joke got a better one? I dare you to try one on the same subject.> :p "Um,... Well there was this apprentice sheep herder on the Planet Montana, and after a month the red faced embarrassed boy asked the older shepherds what to do to relieve the tension without women, see." Mange nods his head. "One answered,'Well we pick a ewe, and take care of it.' "Well it took another month before the boy took the advice, and on returning from the flock he noticed the other older shepherds laughing at him. The boy in heated red faced embarrassment shouted, 'I knew all you guys wanted was a reason to laugh at me!' "One of the older shepherds between gaw-faws answered, 'No not that, it's just that you picked the ugly one.' See?" <You two-legs are weird. It would be like one of the People mating with a chipmunk.> "Well you asked for it you mangy six-limbed walking flea circus!" Mange and Poker CPO Poker Mind and, Mangy Fur the Smart Alick Spacecat.

Down under we have the same jokes about New Zealanders (Kiwis) and sheep.
Reminds me of the story of two traveling salesmen driving through a remote area when they see a ewe with its head stuck in a fence. The Kiwi driver stops and takes advantage of the situation, and on return to the car the **** (deleted to save being sued) passenger says how disgusted he was. The Kiwi say not to knock anything until you've tried it. After some thought the **** passenger gets out of the car, goes over, kneels down and sticks his head in the fence.

Mange, <Sorry I asked for it. Well back to Honorverse Jokes. Chief, do you know why the Solies are losing the war?> Chief, "Our ships out class theirs." <No, The Soli high command says, 'We can't win battles so we'll do Commerce raiding. Honor Harington says, 'Let's be about it people.'> "Ugh, yah." Mange and Poker . CPO Poker Mind and, Mangy Fur the Smart Alick Spacecat.

How do you drive a Mandarin crazy?
Put him in a round room and tell him there is a quarter in the corner. ------------

Don't you mean Elizabeth III? How many Treecats does it take to conquer the world? Well, wouldn't you want to know? =-.--.--.*.--.--.-=
