The canals are nothing more than a red herring. Cayleb and Merlin realized their error, and Howsmyn started building...steam powered helicopter gunships!

Oh, and when I look back, it's so obvious! [G]

No they are building a steam powered C-130.

And the next project will be a steam powered F-86 Sabre.

Don't be silly, steam-powered helicopters (without nuclear power) are absurd.

Everyone knows that steam-powered walkers are the way to go

How mundane, steam power ship submersible armed with sea launched cruise missiles (steam catapult assisted black powder propulsion). Capable of launching steam powered (hydrogen peroxide based) 18" diameter torpedoes.

Steam powered C-130s get my vote. The most versatile airplane ever.

He has a point. The Inquisition would doubtless be suspicious of demonic involvement if this crucial step of development were overlooked.

Another great airplane and some of them are still doing duty. I prefer the C-130 because its bigger, flies faster and has that great ramp on the back so that you can shove all kinds of stuff in and out. You don't even have to be on the ground to shove it out but its really hard to shove stuff in while it's flying by 10 feet off the ground doing 140 mph.
