Snowfire: < You just keep using those hands to sign, Mange, and nothing else, and I might consider not stealing everything you own. Including the little necklace you're wearing. >
"Keep it PG-13 and try to keep to pickpocketing, it make you richer nd is funnier when I get to go throuhg their wallet." < So wait, I can't kill someone if I want to? > "Only with my exspress command, please. I wanna know before you go knocking out all my sources of credits outside offical service bank accounts." ~~~~~ A Joke to add the the thread: So when Byng died he went to Heaven where he was informed that he would go to Hell. So down he went and when Byng arrived he found it very organized and orderly, it was even prtty quiet save a few murmuring voices. In fact, it almost looked like a warship. "So, Admiral Josef Byng, you are now in hell, what do you think?" The devil asked and Byng was impressed. "this is amazing? What is so bad about this?" Byng asked in confusion and the Devil grinned, "You'll see." ~ A few hours later Byng had wandered onto something that resembeld a flag bridge with many more chairs and people, officers, working all around. A few people stood solemnly in the ceter of the 'bridge around the plot which showed the 'star system' they were in. "Why do you guys look so down?" Byng asked. One looked up, A Real Admiral wearing the uniform of the RMN, "It's the day's live fire exercise, names Santino." Another wearing a RMMC working uniform shrugged. "Happens every day, about the same time, same place. Hardly ever changes, name's Dever Summervale." "And it horrible becuse everytime we lose. My name is Alasdair Heemskerk." An man wearing a black and red uniform said miserably from where he sat. "what's so bad about that?" Byng asked, "You have food, warmth, a bed, other people, and you never grow old." Just then a fleet of ships hypers in consisting of man, many ships and suddenly a message comes in. "Hell, are you ready to have your sorry butts kick up between your ears again?" The face of *Admiral* Edward Saganami filled the holoscreen and he grinned, winked, then signed off. "you're new, so let me tell you before they launch." Santino said, staring inot he plot as the Fleet started to roll. "That fleet is Heaven, we're hell, we have no weapons and they're useing live fires missiles. Meaning you get to dies every day at least once for the rest of eternity." The Sollie looked in horror at the plot as the missiles were fired and he dropped the cup of coffee he had been carrying. "The worst part?" Denver said. "Is that sometimes the cahnge commands and when it's Grayson they usualy send boarding parties to steal our stuff, oh and you don't want to know what happens when the Audubon Ballroom troops come over." Santino looked discusted for a second. "The worst part is, this was an idea of Honor Harrington's. She didn't exactly tell God, but he obviously like it, so he made it this way." Byng looked at the former marine then back at the plot before the missiles exploded. The moral? Even in Hell, Honor can always make someone's life that much more miserable. ~~

Our love lorn swain Mange wrote a song to woo the hard to get Snowfire, and now a Grayson TV commercial: Announcer: "The latest from Ronchco Records in Grayson Classical Music style form Chief Poker Mind as always accompanied by Space Cat First Mangy Fur on his Electric Lyre." The Chief with the voice of a braying Missouri Canary (Mule Y'all,) and Mange's twangy Electric Lyre Music: "Momas don't let your female treekittens grow up to be Admiral Gardians "They follow those old fleets all over "And have no time to be wooed among the flowers and trees in the park garden. "And have not time to be wooed in the clover..." Oh! You Earth creatures make me so angry! Just as soon as I find my Imodium Q 38 Space Modulator you're all history! Mandarin, "Oh no the Earth is being invaded by Martians call out the Treecat Marines!" Sollie Noncom, "But sir, the Treecats are allied with our enemy the Manticorians they won't help us." Mandarin, "Too bad because Treecat Marines Rock!!!!!" PS. Chief, "Admiral, Mam, get Snowfire a RMN translator color of her own. You know she is entitled to wear one with your rank in silver on it. It was discussed several threads back, Mam." CPO Poker Mind and, Mangy Fur the Smart Alick Spacecat.

This is not intended as a joke, but...
Could the Honorverse work as a Manga? Judging from the covers above, it probably could. Note - Manga is the printed form, Anime is the animated form. It's almost scary how many people think the two are the same, or think all anime is naughty tentacles. *sigh* ~~~~~~

Not really sure I want to know where a Manga would take Honor and Nimitz. ------------

I am a BIG anime fan but I'm not sure the Honorverse would work as a Manga, some of the Short stories possibly, but I think quite a lot of the main story is a little too text heavy to work well. Plus it would be just tooo long even the shortest of the books would probably be 10 or more volumes of standard length Manga A lot of the confusion between Manga and Anime especially in the UK) comes from the existance of Manga Entertainment, who pushed for anime in the UK to be known as Manga. In the UK the industry was responsible for most of the "tentacle" reputation because during the 90's when anime had its first brush with popularity they where pushing any license they could get cheap, which unfortunately was not series of the highest quality. I won't mention the Sci-Fi channels late night Anime programming, most older anime fans in the UK can probably remember (with an appropriate shudder) the films they used to show ~~~~~~
