How about Elle Fanning as Honor (Dakota Fanning's younger sister)?

She is blonde now, but that can be fixed.

She is young - mid-teens, over 5' 7".

I saw her in Super 8; she can act.

By the way, Super 8 was an interesting revisiting of Spielberg's earlier work.

I could go with Elle Fanning, except that unlike most of the most often mentioned choices in these threads, she is too young.

I recently went back and re-read all the early descriptions of Honor. Casting should probably be looking for someone in the 25-28 range, or up to 35 with good youthful bone structure that would help the make-up/digital editing crews sustain the youthful looks on film.

Honor looked like an adolesent when she was 18-22 in the Academy. But at the beginning of OBS that is 18-20 years in the past.

Also, as I have considered this over the recent more hopeful discussions, I have begun to come to the conclusion that they really NEED to cast for tall, actual real inches. Honor height just comes up very often in all the 'image' scenes, its an important part of how others percieve her.

You're thinking too small... the bigger problem with age is to plan for success (sequels). Since it takes 2-3 years to make a film, a 35 yr old would be as much as 38 for the sequel, and 41 for the 3rd film. That doesn't seem like it'll work. Starting younger is really the best solution.

Two meter tall women are vanishingly rare, but women pushing six feet tall are not that aberrant. (I know a 5'6" Colonel, USMC ret who married such a woman. Obviously makes slow dancing interesting). There are not any well know actresses that fit the part. However; there are plenty of struggling young actresses who are struggling because they do fit the part. I suspect that the studio will discover such a woman and make her career.

I really, really liked the scenes with Megynn Fox running in slow motion.

The question is how much attention will be paid to us, the HH fanbase by Hollywood. For a recent example, lets look at the Transformers franchise.

Michael Bey(keep him away from HH, since it's character, not explosion-driven!) was smart enough to recognize that only Peter Cullen could credibly voice Optimus Prime. He chose Hugo Weaving for Megatron over Frank Welker, however for the first movie. He did try to appease the fanbase by bringing Welker in to voice Sounwave in the second film. Then he further pleased the real TF fans by having Leonard Nimoy(Galvatron is the animated TF movie) voice Sentinel Prime. As a big-time TF fan and collector, I was reasonably pleased by the films, in spite of some questionable plotlines. The overall casting was good, especially in the first and third films.

Hopefully DW, in an executive producing role can keep the HH movie(and hopefully franchise) on track with the vision presented in the books. If he retains significant input over casting, like J.K. Rowling did for the Harry Potter films it should turn out OK. If some Michael Bey type, or worse- Paul W.S. Anderson, McG, etc. gets their hands on HH- it'll suck.[/quote]

Yes. Remember how middle-age spread started to effect the looks of the original Star Trek cast. It got to be a joke after a bit.

Uhura still looked hot when doing the fan dance in one of the movies that was otherwise so bad I can't remember the title. Majel Berret was still smoldering when playing Troy's mom in TNG. Of course Marinna Sirtis was incandescent in The Wicked Lady when she had the whip fight with Fae Dunniway.

Yea, I give women points for age.
