There are simply too many choices for these characters. . .
Honor - Acting ability is a must. Actress must be reasonably tall (5'6"-6'00"), generally pale, atheletic physique, and if possible mixed Caucasian/Asian heretage. She has to be recognizable as Honor to fans, and be able to carry the role in a vaccuum (pardon the pun) for non-fans. As for the others, there is significantly more leeway for that. |

Agree with the above broad characteriztion, but I don't know where "generally pale" comes from? She shouldn't be dark complected, if only for the contrast with Michelle and Elizabeth, but beyond that I think you could cast anyone who wasn't a strongly freckled redhead (and pro make up can pretty much take care of even that extreme.) dreamrider |

As I recall, Honor has been discribed as being pale complexioned. Of course, 'pale' compared to the dusky colouring of the rest of humanity at that time is probably relative :P

Physically, Charlize Theron's portrayal of Aeon Flux would be commercially successful and close to canon.
Does she have a younger clone? |

Why dont you look for a girl from finland or norway, they are usually tall and muscular, the problem will be to find the combination of hair and eyes I think (dont remember Honor's hair but the eyes are amber)

I was in Norway in June. I did not see very many muscular gals. In fact there was just one. Hair can be dyed--it is done all the time. Eyes can be changed with colored contact lenses--also done often enough. Hollywood sells illusion and entertainment. They can make people look like whatever they need to look like. And so what if Honor of the movies does not look like Honor of the books? It is the story (script) and the acting that make a movie. All else is illusion and easy for Hollywood. |

I'd see Protector Mayhew to be more for Patrick Stewart or Mark Harmon myself.
The biggest problem with that is that Don S Davis has a rather terminal case of being dead. |

I've been re-watching some recent SciFi and could help myself but think that Col. Tigh from the 2003 edition of BSG would make a pretty good Howard Clickscales.

Dave is over bad cold and tweeting:
Panagotia Mary G @ @davidweber1 I always envision a gigantic Kate Mulgrew as Honor Harrington. It'll be strange to see someone else play the part. 27 Nov in reply to ↑ David Weber @davidweber1 David Weber @Panagotia <G> Always thought Claudia Christian would do a great job, but it starts with Honor a little too young. I'll be interesting! CPO Poker Mind and, Mangy Fur the Smart Alick Spacecat.

I'll take Charlize Theron in the role at any age up to about 62, and rely on her acting chops to pull it off without the slightest disbelief!
Unfortunately, I don't think that Ms. Theron would sign on for the kind of series commitment that would be necessary, given the enormous scope of the roles that she seems to like to take on. Now, for Sonja Hemphill... dreamrider
