heh I know this thread is dying, but given that the first few moves would have to demonstrate the physical prowess of Honor, how about Gina Carano (173cm so not that much shorter than honor) or Katheryn Winnick (she's only 168 cm but Hollywood has lots of short men...)

I was going to suggest Kelly Hu (Scorpion King among others) but she was born in 1968. Do the math, I think she's probably a little too old to pull off a 20something appearing Harrington. (Drat!)
Claudia Christian was born in 1965, at age 46 we have the same problem. Better to go with a younger relative unknown I think. ****
Just my opinion of course and probably not worth the paper it's not written on. |

Well it dependes how we looks i don't look that younger but more look like much possible like her and i didn't care if she would have 20 or 40 Especially when we don't know would the scenario look like or form of that.

I was talking to a friend last night about several of Weber's books - one of them being the HH books - and I mentioned the potential of a movie series about the character. She mentioned Maggie Q, an actress currently starring on the CW series Nikita.
She has a part-asian heritage, the ability to fight and use weapons, and - being 32 years old - she's younger than most of the others mentioned so far. She's a bit too short (5'6") for a 'true' Honor Harrington - but if DW isn't that concerned about that issue, then it shouldn't be a problem (besides, if they can make people look much shorter for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, then they can make her look taller). I don't know enough about her to say if she could handle the part acting-wise, but she is at least a possible for the role. |

Actually... Having seen Freema doing her Martha role... I picture her more as Mike Henke then Elizabeth. -

Of all the suggestions she's the only one that seems even somewhat viable to me. But she's already too old and her height, while they could compensate for it, is somewhat of an inconvenience. I still think a total unknown is the way to go. Easier to find someone with the desired attributes and raw talent, possibly someone who at least has studied acting and is fresh out of school, than to find someone experienced and proven in the industry to meets the criteria. The age is the biggest factor. Unless they totally ignore prolong, and it's such a fundamental factor affecting so many of the storylines that that would be hard to do. |

Sometimes different directors direct special parts of a project. It often is not such a good thing. But, sometimes it works.
I wonder what it would be like to have Daniel Alfredson direct the Victor Cachat scenes. He directed the Swedish original movie The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo and its sequels. That intensity would be perfect for Cachat's introduction on old Earth in From the Highlands. Noomi Rapace could make a very interesting Elaine Komandorski/Lady Georgia Young. |

Just as a thought here, what about someone like Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby as Honor? She had that kind of tough edge for that film...
Or perhaps Natalie Portman? She has the kind of strong features that I associate with Honor and would be able to pull off the body insecurity of a young Honor. (Yes, I know they're not 'relative unknowns' :P) |
