Do we know which clan Naytash belongs to? Her actions may have consequences downstream, even centuries away. The destruction of Dragon Fleet and revelation of Rish involvement in the war would not have been well received by the Great Mothers of the Sphere.

No record, but presumably Naytash got a report on the disaster at New Dublin. She's had time to make plans and take action, but doesn't appear to have done anything.
One thought was that the replacement manifolds may be on their way. But if so, I'd think she would hover at the expected delivery point in order to keep them away from the Federation.
It's been nagging at me. Does anyone have a plausible reason?

And why didn't she bolt when the FTLCs arrived? But indeed she stayed intentionally, so she must have had a reason. Aliens have alien thinking patterns, but they must still be somewhat logical. What could it be?

If you remember the Rish matriarch in In Fury Born in that plantary invasion that Alicia shows up to take care of, the matriarch was honor bound to die before giving up because her clan had the major fail in the operation that Seargent Alicia upset, and as a consequence of that had been forced into that losing conflict to expiate her failure. So it seems possible that Naytash was setting up her own punishment because she knew if Xing didn't return victorious she as the on site Rish matriarch would be expected to pay with her life, and however many others she could take with her.

Sorry for the repeated necromancy, but I've only just caught up on the textev for this:

The answer to the OP's original question is certainly the same as if he'd asked "why did Shernsiya niha Theryian have to get Alicia to shoot her?" The honor of the Clan.

Recall that Than addressed her as 'High War Mother' - I'd bet my own money that that is a translation of farthi chir. IOW, Naytash was the _head_ of the clan tasked with carrying out the plan, or at least the part of it concerned with Diyu and Dragon Fleet. And remember that she actually spoke privately with Xing, presumably to discuss or even help plan the attack on New Dublin. When the Rish plan comes crashing down in flames as the result of actions she has aided and abetted I imagine that she was left with 2 choices: be consumed by those flames, in the presence if not actually at the hand of those who brought it down [it wouldn't surprise me if she assumed her ship would be destroyed rather than disabled when she tried to pull out], or return to lead her clan as it was degraded or eliminated for the failure.

Exactly why her death in battle, as Shernsiya's, wiped out the dishonor is more than I can say, but I would think that it's rather similar to the custom of dueling in western European aristocratic cultures: once the duel is fought, honor is satisfied and the cause is erased - at least in principle ;)

Of course, all the above begs the question of how Naytash expected her honorable end to be known to the Sphere. It may be that her non-return was statement enough, or the Rish may have had agents among the station or ship crews and she thought enough of them would survive to send in reports, or, most likely, she anticipated that the usual monkey-boy chatter would be carried to the Sphere's ears in the Federation.
