I'm sorry I should have specified, with that data being semi-canonical - The Shuttle masses and specs are Jayne's and the Ship specs are Jayne's and SITS.

Not if the Silver Bullets had been designed to leave no traces to begin with. Just place some small explosives or similar within the spider drive which make sure no usable traces of the spider drive will remain once the graser gets activated.

I thought grav drives can only obtain energy when configured as Warshavsky sails, within a grav wave? Normal wedges are always using up energy, although one can generate a lot more acceleration from the same reaction mass than using classical non-grav acceleration methods.

(Btw, could gravitics used to create some kind of perpetuum mobile? Accelerating using gravitics, then harvesting the motion energy? :? )

Sails have a more powerful energy siphon effect - but RFC was clear that wedges have it too. It's just that a wedge's siphon only partially offsets the power needed to accelerate; reducing the amount of power that needs to come from the ship's reactor, but it'll never provide a surplus of power back to the ship.

Yea, you got the reply to him before I did with DW's post.

But is that an area that can be vastly improved upon by an entity who thinks outside of ... the box that is outside of the box?

Only if RFC wants that to happen. It seems unlikely.

Frankly, I, personally, hesitate to use the word "unlikely" in the same sentence with the MAlign.


An aside: I like to link to long lost discussions when the situation warrants it. For those of you on the forum at the time ...

I argued there would be concentrated clean hydrogen deposits located in some systems, right underneath the earth on some planets and not requiring many extra steps to separate it.

I was not limiting that statement to the Malign.

However, try this one: I think it is unlikely that the Malign will decide to abandon their plan of domination (short of the capture of the Detweiler line).
