Latest lunacy. Russia is unhappy about Ukraine being given longer range missiles, as they may use them to attack targets in Russia.
Apparently this would be a criminal act, and they would respond in turn by attacking "decision making centres" outside of Ukraine. Is this just a bluff, or have they finally swallowed their own propaganda? It may be time to take the risk of sorting these lunatics out? |

A bluff, I think. Attacking the decision making centers outside Ukraine would be the end of the world as we know it just as sorting out these lunatics would bring about the same result. Mutually assured destruction still is in force. Both thoughts are expressions of frustration, I think. Best course right now is steady as she goes. NATO has been doing an excellent job... You’re right of course! The MAD doctrine is still hanging over everything! But it does kind of “hobble” the Ukrainians. The Russians are bombing their cities, killing its citizens; combatants and non- combatants alike, Not satisfied with that, the Russian FM is whining about them receiving arms and equipment from the west, so they can defend themselves. There’s nothing a bully fears and hates more, than when their victim fights back!!! https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/4/3 ... tate-media |

Talk about a dogs-breakfast! On top of having to deal with everything having to do with Sweden’s admission to NATO; including dealing with a shyster shake-down artist who’s trying to derail the admission process! Now their sitting government has to face a vote of no-confidence! As a perverse twist of irony the deciding vote in the Swedish parliament is held by Iranian-Kurd Amineh Kakabaveh, an outspoken critic of Erdogan; and probably high on his hate list! With such a monumental geopolitical change of direction that Sweden is facing, one would think that the politicians in their sandbox had better things to do with their time!!! |

With all due respect to the Swedes whom I both like and respect, I am glad that the USA isn't the only country with problems. Misery loves company, after all. In fact Sweden's issues sound remarkable similar to our own. Don - When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

The problem with "gang"-violence in Sweden can be traced back to the re-organization of the police that started in 2013 when the ruling party (Moderaterna, right leaning - comparable to US Democrats who favors the free market) in started dismantling the specialized crime-fighting departments in preparation for the re-organization. This essentially gutted all the institutional knowledge they had, this was further compounded when the re-organization started in earnest in 2015 by Social Democrats who had no choice in implementing the plan. This lead to an ineffectual police for several years and ballooning costs which in turn lead to cost cutting measures which mostly consisted of shuttering of smaller police stations in smaller towns and the countryside. On top of this there's also the failed integration policy for refugees which made it easy for immigrant youths to fall through the social security nets. So the current situation is something the current justice minister just couldn't fix, it will take years to do that. The situation is just used as a political expedient by some of the parties to get some concessions for what they want, but they are fully prepared to use it to its full extent - ie let the current administration fall - even in the face of the current geopolitical situation and the NATO-application. An interesting fact about some of the parties voting against the justice minister is that they are desperately trying to stay relevant because they are at risk of falling below the 4% rule (ie they need at least 4% of the votes to sit in the government). --- Jack of all trades and destructive tinkerer. Anyone who have simple solutions for complex problems is a fool. |

1000 Ukrainians sent to Russia to face trial for defending their country from invading Russians!!! Foreign fighters in Ukrainian service being classified as “mercenaries”. This in spite of their having been issued Ukrainian citizenship when joining the Ukrainian armed forces. But seeing that Russia does not acknowledge the Ukraine as a sovereign nation state, I guess in their twisted logic this entitles Russia to treat them as “terrorists”, who are therefore not protected under the Geneva Convention! So now we’ll be seeing media heavy kangaroo show-trials, reminiscent of the of the ‘30’s, complete with “voluntarily” given “confessions”!!! Proof of the pudding: Three foreign fighters sentenced to death! https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/09/worl ... ussia.html |

Kind of odd to have show trials of "mercenaries" while Russia continues to employ the Wagner Group... Bit of hypocrisy there... Show trials have as their primary audience the folks back home. Makes it look like something is being a accomplished... Don - When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-61825525 “Russia did not invade the Ukraine!!!” Your mention of Russian hypocrisy was certainly has merit. The the previous claim was just one of many being spouted by Russia’s Foreign Minister, a very straight faced Sergey Lavrov in a BBC interview. He continue by declaring that Russia had to “intervene with a Special Military Operation” to protect the Russian speaking minority in the Ukraine! Yahh right!!! Tell that to the Russian speaking Ukrainians buried under bomb rubble in cities Kharkiv, Mariupol and the cities and towns of the Donbass. “…We’re here to save and protect you. Sorry we had to kill you to do that!!!”… |

I've heard that the Russians in those Russian speaking areas are just as furious at Putin and fighting just as hard as the Ukrainians...
