Just happened to notice this wasn't posted here... ((If anyone knows of a more specific official 'fan site' where Weber posts, please point me to it... Im just unsure why videos he's involved in don't get cross posted here..))

3 videos;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBMkIS85VTA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY5TA2HzFhE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxX43sdNfWU

Tidbits/TDLR:
- Expected book #s for 2nd arc of the story is currently 3.(confirmed by Mr. Weber) … As in 3 more books before 'space related stuff' (this part is inferred, not confirmed.)
- Covers a bit of the 'why' TFT was written, what its intended to show, etc etc..
- Meg-wear is apparently how Maigwair is pronounced. (I had always assumed it was Maguire)
- Would have preferred TFT to be 2 books... but was afraid it would then take 3...
- Next book the tech will be more fully developed; Steam shovels at work digging the canal, the trains are fully developed. Steam powered Cars, trucks, and all of those are going to play their part in the next war. Yes its a David Weber book so there will be another war.
- In next book; Militarily The balance will still be in Charis's favor from the outset, the problem is going to be more geographical. Charisian empire spread out over 2/3rds of the planet, etc etc...
- Political explanations about Siddarmarkian motives for next book (Youtube part 2.. spread out over it a bit..)
- Specifically mentioned about Siddarmark becoming an enemy of Charis INSTEAD OF an ally. - Also mentioned that the original Church may/will have to choose a side between them. (David goes super sketchy on this)
- Nobody 'had' questioned the fundamental teachings of the holy writ during the previous war. Now they have somebody (end of TFT) telling them that Chiro lied.... This will be a part of the book; eg; how the Church deals with this now...
- Inferred at the 1-2minute mark in Youtube part 3 that Narhaman was responsible for end of TFT... There is a long dramatic pause... its unclear, but inferred.
- 'This Book' (TFT), gives Merlin an opportunity to have some of the joys of Family that were denied to Nimue previously. "Its important to understand how Nimue was damaged if you're going to understand how the people who created the church could have done it."
- Next book 'starts' within a month or 2 of the end of TFT. "First we threw the fox among the chickens... and everybody fluttering omg what do we do now" (might be a little bit further) - Not 'locked in', but is what Weber thinks its gonna be currently. Then may jump another year or 2.. things settled down a bit on 'that' front (Chihiro lied).. and then War!! -- again, note; book is not even started yet. Things subject to change.
- May or may not let the Gbaba in (mentions age), not sure he wants to get into actually 'fighting' the gbaba, unless he feels he has the time to do it, or a co-writer for that part of the series in case something happens to him.
- Knows exactly how the 'final sequence' of the series (before Gbaba) will be, just has to get the reader there with him (the author).

For Mr. Weber;
- You commented that a Criticism of the most recent book (TFT) was that you 'phoned it in' and 'didn't care' .. I whole heartedly disagree with this Criticism. My only gripe with the book was that it did so much so fast that it felt like a long funeral of great characters.... but that HAD TO HAPPEN over 20 years of time.

Translation: Charis would win every major action effortlessly, but at some remote outpost Charisian gunner may hurt his finger, mowing down uncountable waves of dumb enemy brutes. And there would be half-hearhted discussion about maybe, somehow, someone may change the situation a bit, so Charis absolutely MUST biild this (insert new super-duper battleship description).

Oh well, if shortening the front is what the Germans crave,
Let's shorten it to very end - the length of Fuhrer's grave.

Nonsense, Dilandu!
RFC never writes military porn, where one side effortlessly kills their opponents.

No. He writes about technologically superior forces fighting the good fight against morally suspect opponents. Opponents that through the struggle against their moral exemplars learn to become more morally upright. AND the Good Guys (TM) have to surf the massive, unrelenting waves of the authorial oceans of shifting plots and artfully constructed circumstances. I read RFC's books anticipating to enjoy just the nasty tempest he puts his characters through.

Besides didn't you want to see a bunch of Siddermarker pikemen get mowed down by modern weapons several years ago around book 2 or 3? Talk about easy victories. ;)

Well, his last books in both Honorverse and Safehold were essentially a prolonged "BZAP!" game:

During the Battle of the Falklands, I seemed to be alone in considering who were the greatest heroes.
While I agree that Argentina was in the wrong, their airforce pilots were either ridiculously brave or quite dumb. Wave after wave went out, and didn't come back.
If it had been me, I would have discovered an anomaly in my instruments, and regretfully had to abort the mission.
