If Trump actually makes it through the crazy schedule he has set up for himself the next several days, it could well be that he is indeed largely recovered from covid. That in turn raises the question of how sick he actually got. I know we have tales of oxygen, miracle cocktails and the whole bit, but what is the real truth here, other than he is strong as an ox?

The UK experience may help. The PM Boris Johnson who is a fit cyclist in his fifties nearly died from it, while Prince Charles, who has a butler dress him and is in his seventies, had a milder case than Trump appears to have had.
Lots of research concerning this and similar situations. Blood types is one theory, size of the initial viral infection is another. No one seems to know.

Once in a while you hear or see something that’s so disgusting and vile that it’s almost incomprehensible.

Well, from his perspective, who is the only person he truly cares about, it was a blessing from God. He apparently contracted a comparatively mild case and recovered. Or maybe that weird cocktail he got did its job. We don't know. Chris Christy, on the other hand, was apparently hit harder. And I might add, acted rationally, admitted that he screwed up, and started emphasizing the importance of masks.
