Reporting now coming out that Trump was briefed in March about Russia offering Afghan militants bounties to kill coalition troops in Afghanistan.

In March he kept it quiet and did nothing about it.

In April he kept it quiet and did nothing about it.

In May he kept it quiet and... lobbied to let Russia back into the G7.

Do we really need to go over yet again how much Putin must absolutely *love* the ROI he's receiving on getting Trump elected?

It appears that the folk who might defend Trump on this are no longer posting.

How well documented is your first paragraph? Do you have a link?

Under any other presidency, this would be a major scandal. With this one, I'm afraid it just gets lost in the cesspool.

To be fair, there could be reasons to not spread it too quickly.

But to not do it at all?

Does anyone remember how our resident trumpets were adamant that Trump not going after Russia was a good thing and that it was him recognizing some new reality where Russia wasn't hostile anymore?

Not only to not do anything at all... but to try to *reward* Russia with undoing their removal from the G7(8).

Yeah, because only Americans could hire thugs - ah, sorry, "brave freedom fighters" - to kill others?

If you would not showering Taliban with money in 80s, your World Trade Center would still be standing, you know.

Trump is simply trying to remedy the decades of pointless US antagonism against Russia since 1991. He just understood, that US could NOT afford having both China AND Russia as enemies. Times when US could afford such animosity are long gone; US empire is decaying, Chinese is expanding

And yet, letting someone put bounties on your soldier's heads is the sort of thing that kinda demands a response; it doesn't have to be a big splashy one, but it's a challenge that can't go unanswered.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Putin is quite appreciative of the quality of help he bought.

Problem is, that it is not proven fact. It is what "US intelligence concluded", which boil down to "how some facts and clues were interpreted to appease superiors". There are no proofs; only accusations. And we all knew that by now American's official word could seriously drop the cost of paper, on which it is written.

The word of the current president, yes.

But this was a private intelligence briefing, and US intelligence (when it is not being deliberately manipulated for political purposes by certain administrations) has a pretty solid track record.
