I have actually been amongst the most voicerfous when police truly screw up. Just to add balance, I am starting this thread.

Here is the first entry:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_shoo ... e_officers

And additional information:

https://ucr.fbi.gov/leoka/2016/officers ... aries-2016

This was the first time ever that a Tavor riffle was used to kill a police officer.

Thinking of the perpetrators, what a collection of messed up individuals... If these guys had a moral compass at all, it sure didn't show. No real socialization in childhood. Attraction to extremist groups. Religious affiliations either lacking altogether or not helpful.

And, it sure demonstrates the price we pay for the ease we have getting guns. If there is an argument in favor of firearms, these guys aren't it.

You know who else this reminded me of? Timothy McVeigh. Same basic description of being messed up except in McVeigh' s case a dose of fundamentalist religion gets thrown in on top. The only difference is that the race thing gets flipped.

I read the wiki on McVeigh and was sort of surprised by what I found. He was raised Catholic, but it never really "caught." He more or less drifted from affirming his Catholic connection to denying it. But on the night of his death he received last rites.

As for the book seeking to establish a Islamic connection, that would need cross examination and validation of sources to be accepted as established fact.

But, that being said, if true it would certainly shed a dramatic new angle on the situation, wouldn't it...
