That said, I liked Spelljammer, but it never felt like you were playing D&D.

Sorry, D&D (Well, table top RPG in general) nerd here. A made in the UK game is still one of my favorites, Warhammer fantasy RP.

Why love/hate, the psionic system? :)
Loved the art, setting etc

This is most of my Dark Sun art, had dot.com for ages but don't any more so just keep my art on Deviantart, FAcebook etc now

In a manner, it's fan art. These illustrations were never officially published as part of a printed book.

But they are created by a professional Russian artist and illustrator Sergey Zakharoff precisely as illustrations for "OAR". And at the moment he is drawing illustrations for "Schism".

If he was hired to make them by an editor, even if they didn't make it in the final product it's difficult to qualify them as fan art. Now I'm just making a WAG based on western European way of doing things. ( where we have our own covers, illustrations and all... in each country )

Yeah, it's not really fan art. This is a work that was made to order.
Now Sergey creates drawings for BSRA. ;)

Regarding different counties having different novel art..

here in the UK we always had different novel cover art for scifi and fantasy books from the 1960s to 80s than American versions and sorry Colonial Cousins :P but ours was usually MUCH better! ;)

Actually an interesting thing you should look up, folks
some OUTSTANDING artworks were used, like Bruce Pennington, Chris Foss, Christos Achilleos, etc :)

Excellent art!

Oh well, if shortening the front is what the Germans crave,
Let's shorten it to very end - the length of Fuhrer's grave.
