As usual, you ignore the salient fact.

Interjurisdictional comparisons both nationally within the US as well as internationally confirm that ARREST RATES, not gun ownership rates, are the single most significant factor in homicide rates.

Until recent years, the police in Great Britin shamed their American collegues by solving well over 90% of homicides and arresting the perpetrator. This is no longer true.

Homicide rates are not constant. There are statistically insignificant variations. The British will experience a few years of respite in which homicide rates seem to be stable or decreasing. However; once the reduced arrests rate become an accepted norm, your murder rates will soar. Knife control will not save you.

I will grant you that this level of carnage would be an unremarkable day in Chicago. However; it is alarming for London because it is a dramatic increase. Has there been a sudden increase in knife sales? Are knives getting longer or sharper?
May be it is a symptom of a change in society?
