Perhaps Trump has deployed observers who have documented which Mexican trucking companies are providing free rides and logistical support and have rescinded or threatened to rescind their DOT certification to operate their trucks in the United States in retaliation? Trump might also be prohibiting fund transfers from the United States to these companies.

Currently US reputation in Central and South Americas is good enough that most of those countries prefer to be loyal friend to US. You want them to start have doubts about that policy, and think "bloody hell, those Gringo set their lunatics off the leash... we better have someone powerful enough to back us against USA"?

Actually, most of them despise us because their countries are dysfunctional shitholes and the US is not. They don’t want to hear that their countries are dysfunctional shitholes because of the way they run them; they’re poor, we’re (relatively) rich, so we’re evil and it’s all our fault.

Still, no one of them is actually inclined to seek close partnership with outside power - because they knew, that it would immediately turn them from US partners to US advesaries, and it would be definitely not good for them. The USA have a known reputation in region, and this reputation - despite the public animosity - is good enough so most Latin American countries did not need to even think about searching for outside ally.

There is a reason many Central and South American countries are dysfunctional, they have been meddled with for more than a half-century.
