Thinking about it ...

Radiation poisoning from the pocket nuke seems like a good candidate for Grimaldi's pestilence.

Secondly, or aditionally, if there were any rukari strikes that coincided with local disease or crop failure, or caused it, that could also be a thing Grimaldi was blamed for.


Grimaldi doesn't have to have actually survived Armageddon Island to be useful in what is presumably Chuhiro's fictional account.

Using Grimaldi really comes down to if the Adams and Eve's knew the name before the "fall"

My interpretation of that portion of the book is mostly the Langhorne's crew were just looking for ways to blame Shan wei and her followers. I believe the names they were using are likely the other members of the council who supported her and were dismissed from the council.
