By the end of the 20 year hiatus will the Andies be
part of the GA or independent. Being allied would give them access to latest hardware, software etc. Independent/neutral would allow them to pursue their own ends without having to accommodate allies. To me it looks like a toss up that gives RFC some extra wiggle room. I do lean toward having them in the GA even is just as an associated friendly power. |

They are allies, just as Barregos et cie are allies. They are just not formal members of the GA. Canada, Israel, Austrailia are allies of the USA even though they are not members of NATO. Which brings us to Turkey which is both a dubious ally and a member of NATO. There will probably be conflict over Silesia. As was pointed out, Anderman is now fairly boxed in and has little room for "annexation" candidates. Which does not mean they will have no access to GA technology. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Canada is a member of NATO, as well as NORAD. |

IIRC the Andies withdrew to a neutral stance to give
plausible deniability for their actions. Chien Lu and Honor had a discussion about it. |

Yes. They did not join the GA's alliance against the SL. They still remain ...allies(?), though. They are still sharing Keyhole and upgrading their SDs et al, IIRC. While there is still the potential for clashes after Gustav Anderman absorbs his python lump of Silesia and goes searching for more worlds to conquer, they still share the common enemy of the MAlign, which is enough to keep them best of Frenemies for some while yet. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Grayson joined because there was a need for both to resist Havenite expansion and it was highly beneficial to Grayson to receive the assistance in medical supplies, tech, etc. Haven joined because it was beneficial to them both to resist the League.
The Andermani sat it out for reasons given by Tango Lima. At this point, with the Gorilla finally given liposuction and put on a Jenny Craig diet, what's the point? There's no need to, with the immediate threat neutralized. GA tech is cool, but the Andermani aren't slackers themselves. There's no one else in the galaxy that can threaten them except the GA and that won't happen. If the MA comes out of the shadows, what cause will they have to show their hand and warn the GA by first attacking the Andermani? And if they attack the GA, they'll have their hands too busy to bother with the Andermani. Without benefit of the massive data chip that is UH, of course. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

Pretty spot on their Cthia.
The only one you missed would be the MAlign trying to stir trouble between the SEM and the Andies, and having treecats in both camps tends to stop that. Actually, that's the one element that people aren't considering post UH. How will the treecats affect the longevity and strength of the GA and the alignment with the Andies. Because if it's in the cat's best interest, and I think it is, those alignments will be rock solid. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Great question! because while the treecats are telepathic with each other, they don't seem to be complete "mind readers". So, for example, if they met someone from Darius or even an MAlign mole, they might recognize "this person is corrupt/off and bears watching", but they might not directly see the why and who behind the corruption. Keep in mind that the agent on Torch seemed "off", not like a completely wide open book. I think their contribution to true stability mighg be that the treecats will always be open to each other and loyal to their humans. With the ability to sign, that acts as a protection against duplicitous behaviors at the highest levels of the GA. No Caesars, but also no Brutus-style knives in the back.
