In the Baen Bar, Eric Flint wrote that after he finishes his next book, the one about Poland, he will be working with RFC on a new Zilwicki/Cachat book.
We might get a lot more answers to questions there. There was just a brief bit from them in the past book. But those two are likely to keys in finding the MAlign.
Unfortunately, he won't be writing the book until (at his own guess) sometime after September. So we have a long wait.
