One of our PBS type stations, SBS, was unable to show all the World Cup games this time due to budget cuts. They took the Australia games only. (The station is government funded)

So one of the big ISP type companies bought the rights for their streaming service. (Which I can't use due to remote location. Beside the point)
Their service was so bad, so overloaded, that they've publically apologised and have given the next few games back to SBS.

Meanwhile we're heading to a federal election with the government pushing for more budget cuts to SBS.

Not a fan of the World Cup unless US is in, but can I sympathize at the frustration of watching a good sport and the CABLE or ISP streaming service is terrible.

Can't even get that right.
A commercial company (Optus) stuffed up their streaming because of not spending enough on hardware.
They were rescued by SBS (a government owned broadcaster) who then played it on free to air TV. Score - capitalism 0 - socialism 1.

Going to go ahead and guess the churches part was an oopsie caused by them passing complex tax plans in the middle of the night while doodling edits in the margins...

Not 100% sure of the numbers but ...

The NHS in the UK covers 100% of the population.

Medicaid in the US covers the retired, the poorest 10%, and the veterans (via the VA I believe)

Adjusted for population numbers it turns out that the US spends 20% more on medicaid than the UK does on the NHS.

So the CDC reported on US birthrates etc for 2016.

Guess what appears to have had the biggest effect in lowering abortion rates.

Guess...

Comprehensive sex education for teenagers.

Guess what seems to have caused tbe greatest increase in abortions.

I'll give you a hint, the biggest increase, it was in Texas.

So the take away is: if the GOP and evangelicals are really against abortion and want to lower the number of them, then they need to push comprehensive sex education for teenagers. Not just abstinance only.
