It is ironic that the poem is so poignant when the subject is trying to be so upbeat.

Nice poem rose.

It captures her essence and will that her heart will go on. Always a tear-jerker for me...

Great poem, thank you for sharing it. Also for making me sad all over again about these two awesome people being torn away from each other by war. I'd almost managed to forget about it. :evil:

Okay, that's a lie, I will never forget.

This is one I've often thought of while reading the HH series, whether about Javier and Eloise, Honor and Paul and later Hamish, or even the non-romantic deep and abiding love between someone like Honor and Alastair.

This is not an exaggeration.

And yes, "To Lucasta" has always struck me as incredibly appropriate for these two. To the extent that their relationship has a defining trait, it is "loved I not Honor more."

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to crawl into a corner and weep buckets over these two. Again. :cry: :cry: :cry:

It certainly p****d me off when I read that part of the story! Andreas' was close to that as well. Strangely, neither Alister's or Andrew's affected me as much, probably because they died doing their duty (which I know was also true for the others, but go figure!). The one pair of minor characters I wish we could have gotten to know better were Roslee Orndorf & Banshee- I wanted to see how a different adopted pair navigated Naval service!

I am not bitter about Javier's death. I think it added a lot to the storyline. Especially since his death came as a surprise. I felt like Alistar's death was coming since it had become clear DW wasn't going to be able to close out Honor's storyline in this book. If there is any character I miss the most it is Andreas.

Hmmmm. I almost expected to see a rose original in Eloise's voice titled Finish my Name.
