I am a 'to e-arc' proponent.
Because: I like to find out how close the speculation actually got, I enjoy checking out the editing changes in the final version, the board goes into overdrive in reaction, RFC's participation is a huge bonus and quite enlightening, I would like to hear the reasoning of the 'not to e-arc' proponents. |

I don't purchase the eARC because I don't like to pay to many times. Let's see $15 eARC $20-25 HB $10 ERC $10 PB that's $55-60 for all versions. My purchases will be $10 ERC and $10 PB. Though I am now collecting the LB versions. |

Would you please explain ERC and LB?
My self I Buy the E-arc, E-book and hardback, I haven't bought a Trade paper of Mass market paperback in years. From my understanding the E-arc and E-book gives the author the best return. |

I have never found a lot of difference between the eArcs and the final books. I get the eArc (hey, I jones for the new books from my favorite authors) and then if I like the book...and for RFC I just about always love the books, I buy it in hardcover. |

There is more time for David to fix things before they start printing, so there might be more this time. I get the earc and the HC.

This. I even have a couple of ARCs, including the last DW ARC issued before eARCs were started (Shadow of Saganami) that I got Himself to sign at ConDFW. Even that huge 800 page novel had very, very few changes for the final HB. IIRC, the eARC pays the author like it was a full-price HB and they get the money much quicker. |

I very rarely buy eArcs because I don't want to pay twice. But I do sometimes, as with this one because I didn't want to wait 6 months for the final book and have to try avoiding all the snippets, snerks and comments.
Cheers, John
