It’s exceedingly likely that the SL sources could find some better pictures of a member of the royal family. It’s not like they don’t show up in a kind of gossip publications that the UK has.

On the other had I tend to suspect they don’t have access to the entire set of of military personnel pictures.

“Pretty much what I thought.” He shrugged. “And apropos of that point, and bearing in mind your comment about search algorithms, I’m a little nervous about our potential exposure. I really appreciate Brigadier Gaddis’s support, but if anybody happens to look over his shoulder at the computer runs involved in all this . . . .”

An operating system like Linux can easily accomplish commands, jobs, queries in the background. It will even send encrypted output to another terminal or device. Windows will also execute commands in the background.

Highly doubt they're being literal.

“It has occurred to you, I trust, that we may all be suffering from paranoia?” Weng asked.

“Upon occasion.” He snorted. “On the other hand, I’m not in favor of finding out whether or not we’re paranoid by going public. What about you?”

“Not just yet, thank you,” she said dryly.

If they go public with their suspicions, it could give advanced warning to the infiltrator to close up shop, or the nanite protocols could kick in. But, one way or another, they'd be free from infiltration. I can hardly believe they think they'll get a confession of any sort even if they manage to determine the identity of the infiltrator(s).

But, an untimely death in the face of going public could identify exactly where in the scheme of the machine a cog was compromised.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

“Point taken, Sir,” she said. “If it hadn’t come so close on Spindle’s heels, the ‘Yawata Strike’ would’ve gotten an enormous amount of sympathetic play on the boards.”

“And with damned good cause.” Capriotti leaned forward, planting his forearms on the briefing room table. “That was a sheer, wanton slaughter, with no attempt at all to minimize civilian loss of life. Leave the kinetic impact damage on Sphinx completely out of the equation, and it was still unconscionable.”

This does shed light on one of my original posts questioning why the League wasn't all up in arms regarding the horrendous casualties caused by "whoever" in the Yawata strike. After all, it is their self-appointed job, and just as I've said in that same post somewhere, this unknown entity could come acalling on Earth, for all they know.

I want this e-arc more than I want my next breath.

Not the breath after that one, you understand, but this one here . . .

IIRC High Ridge is currently a guest of the royal Manticorian penal system for the next 29 years or so. It begs the question 29 standard years or Manticorian years, oh heck how about Sphinxian years.

Mr. "Hakon Ellingson," purportedly from Manticore, who dangled goodies before the Mayans, was said to resemble Prince Michael Winton somewhat, was he not?[/quote]

I strongly suspect that the person in the background of the picture of the then PM Baron High Ridge was Prince Michael. This whole revelation by Rufus is thus a complete phony. The only question is whether the Alignment has figured out what Barregos is up to and they have use him as a distraction.

They know perfectly well what he is up to. It's been discussed by them on-screen.
