Just wondering if anyone’s ever 3D printed any of the ships in miniature? Or even other such things... Pods... Missiles... Drones.... the Star of Grayson!

Yes, there's been a few 3D prints of ships. Nothing commercially available, though, and most of the existing prints are test pieces to see how much detail we can include.

Although... there was a 3D printed SD, about 4-5 inches long, that was used to make molds for white and milk chocolate SDs that were handed out to various BuNine members (and David, of course) at HonorCon in 2013.

Most of the 3D models used for the various prints were from my meshes (check the links in my sig), and for obvious reasons, were not as detailed. As far as I know, the only things that have been printed are a few ships, an early version of the Dakota-class cutter (the 3D model can be seen in a few boat bay shots on my DeviantArt page), and yes, a Star of Grayson.

Just to reiterate though, none of these are for production, and were just test prints.

On the other hand, at some point, Final Sword Productions ( http://store.genreconnections.com/sagan ... simulator/ ) may release miniatures for the Saganami Island Tactical Simulator tabletop game. I can't say (as in I don't know, not that I'm not permitted to say) when or if it'll happen, but the guys at FSP have all my meshes to use for making miniatures, so...

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Umm, they have had minis for SITS for years. Just on a different subpage than the books.

A chocolate SD... they should sell those in the shops lol!

I guess it would be hard to get all the detail in without being prohibitively expensive.

I keep waiting for someone to commission a chainsaw artist to do an Honorverse ship...

Now THAT would be good! Especially because logs are long and thin, like ships.

Those are great for playing games with, but nowhere near big enough for what i suspect the OP is after.

Further, that game hasn't been updated since FSP and Ad Astra split, which is rather disappointing.

I realize that. The difference is that now that they have my meshes, they may be changing the ship miniatures they currently use. The current models are based on older art that isn't "canon", as opposed to my meshes, which are.

Maxx, I have actually just come back from looking at your deviant-art page. You illustrations are the kind I could simply drink up!

I'm curious though, I can't seem to find any images of either CLACs or SDs? I'm wondering if those have been deliberately excluded for some reason?

Oh, one other thing... I was looking at the pinnace... is that a cargo bay in the back, or is that the engineering space?
