Will any available factotum please tell me where 280,000 words fit on the scale of the previously published books?

I know 'factotum' doesn't have anything to do with what it sounds like. But let's just go with what it sounds like it should be -- someone who is a reservoir of and totes facts.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Disclaimer: The following word counts are just from the word count function of Open Officer Writer on the RFT ebooks so would be a bit higher than the 'official' word count; as they'll include things like cover % copyright pages, bio pages, etc that aren't part of the proper count.
Still, for a quick a dirty way to get a ballpark...

129,608 words - 01 - On_Basilisk_Station -
134,887 words - 02 - The_Honor_of_the_Queen
117,128 words - 03 - The_Short_Victorious_War
116,423 words - 04 - Field_of_Dishonor
142,928 words - 05 - Flag_In_Exile
171,547 words - 06 - Honor_Among_Enemies
176,031 words - 07 - In_Enemy_Hands
251,572 words - 08 - Echoes_of_Honor
230,645 words - 09 - Ashes_of_Victory
326,967 words - 10 - War_of_Honor
294,484 words - 11 - At_All_Costs
223.519 words - 12 - Mission of Honor
163,885 words - 13 - A Rising Thunder
190,257 words - C01 - Crown_of_Slaves
216,935 words - C02 - Torch_of_Freedom
209,818 words - C03 - Cauldron_of_Ghosts-eARC
279,561 words - S01 - Shadow_of_Saganami
278,367 words - S02 - Storm_From_the_Shadows
155,046 words - S03 - Shadow_of_Freedom
295,902 words - S04 - Shadow_of_Victory-eARC

So Uncompromising Honor looks like it'll likely end up about the 3rd longest "main line" book, and maybe 4th overall.

Thanks again Jonathan.

I guess I'll just have to be satisfied since the deed is already done. I suppose I was expecting it to be the largest offering by far since it is his last in the series and since there are so many loose threads we'd like sewn.

Perhaps it will be replete with a plethora of updated maps and other goodies. The inclusion of the short story would be nice.

It's not definitively the last in the series. It's supposed to wrap up the overt conflict with the League and a good place to pause for a while if RFC wants to spend the next year or three on other stuff, but earlier rumors that it was supposed to be a final wrap-up of the series were incorrect.

What has been written is that it is the last in this arc. What most feel is that it will sort of end Honor's direct involvement. The next books will focus on her children. That would make sense. She's too senior to base a real lot of action on and taking a break, let's say for 20 years of history, would allow a different feeling for the next books.

The admirals, etc., will probably be retired and we can deal with Captain Helen and Admiral Abigail.
