The new Grand Vicar is going to be a busy man. The transition will be messy and complicated and time-consuming.

He's also not the type to shrug his shoulders at a mystery. Even if he were, he's practical enough to realize that if something like that could happen once it could happen again.

Within his worldview the only explanations he'll accept are supernatural ones.

What if he concludes that Clyntahn was right all along and that demons are helping the Empire of Charis?

He's too honest a man to leave his flock at the mercy of demons.

He's also sane enough to realize just how few options he's got for doing anything.

One way for him to think about this is to believe that as long as he holds the Church to righteousness then God will resume the protection He withdrew when Clyntahn was in charge. Duchairn can figure that yes, demons wiped out everyone at the prison, but it won't happen again as long as the Church is moral.

Or, he could be informed about the truth. Bringing him into the Inner Circle is far-fetched but not at all crazy. He's been shaken enough to maybe consider new ideas.

It's extremely unlikely that he'd be "brought into" the Inner Circle at this time.

I see no good need to bring him in and losing him as Grand Vicar could create a very big mess for our heroes.

Remember that one of the biggest concerns for the Inner Circle is "what happens when he/she learns the Truth".

Every person who learns the Truth is a major potential danger for the Inner Circle.

While they don't have to kill somebody who endangers the secret, they still "lose" that person once he's put into "cold sleep".

It is not a mystery to him. He knows Seijin at sent by God, and clearly God recognized the evil that he and the other Group of Four were doing. The only mystery to him is why God let he and Alan survive.

The last is easy enough to answer. God is infinitely gracious is allowing second chances. Especially to those that do not deserve it, but are willing to work their way through redemption. The question Robair is asking is what can he do to ever deserve the grace God has given him?
