It is stated pretty emphatically that Rolands have no Marines aboard, unless we count everyone's favorite San Martin-born gaurd-wall Mateo.

I was wondering about older designs specifically around the time of HotQ. A Star Knight CA seems to have a heavy company and the old Courageous-class if I remember OBS right had a 'short' company minus a heavy weapons platoon.

Would an old style DD such as the Culverins or Chansons have at least a platoon or maybe even an augmented platoon with an extra heavy weapons section?

it is not clear how many marines Troubudor added to the short battalion and Companies that would have been on Fearless and Apollo in HotQ

about the only place we can get any info from is the short story "Let's Dance", covering some of Honor's time in command of Hawkwing. There it says there was a platoon of marines aboard, which was why most of the assault troops were provided by the ballroom.

According to Jayne's, the older DD-classes have between 38 and 44 Marines each (Culverin, Chanson, Havoc-Classes: 38 Marines; Falcon-Class: 44 Marines). That equals roughly to a platoon, right?
