It is official. Putin's pet is now POTUS. The carnival barker from hell now reigns for four years.

Yup, didn't bother watching his speech but from what I'm hearing about it it went basically like...

"America is a dystopian hellscape... because of everything anyone who isn't me has done. But now everything will be awesome! WINNING!!!! ".

...delivered to a crowd that was embarrassingly smaller than either of Obama's, all that empty space on the Mall is almost certainly eating away at Trump's insides.

This is going to be a long 4 years of bread and circuses...

It wasn't that bad. Dial the comment down about 10x.

But it certainly wasn't the usual speech

Well, I just went and read it... (can't stand to hear the guy speak)...

If you mean "made empty declaration of how everyone was going to come together and then spent the entire speech being divisive and kind of dickish" yeah, not the usual speech.

I got to "This American carnage stops right here and stops right now" and actually, and I am being entirely literal, banged my head on my desk.

And I almost did it again when he talked about the "very sad depletion of our military". What fucking bizarro world alternate reality is this doofus speaking to us from?

"I will fight for you with every breath in my body"... (you know, on Monday. Because the weekend is coming up and being President is like a banker's hours kind of job... right?)

"When you open your heart to patriotism there is no room for prejudice"... (does he know what the word patriotism means??? )

And on, and on...

Gah, torture.

(But I at least now find it more credible he did indeed at least have a hand in writing this himself.)

Sorry you had to suffer that, gcomeau. Seriously, I am sorry. I don't enjoy his speeches either.

I always tell people who do not bother to vote that they can not complain if they did not participate... Or giving a book review with out reading the book. or bothering to listen to President Trump's speech and telling everyone it was a terrible speech...

Dial down your opinions please...
