However, it's not completely dumb. Could be useful to people with motor control issues. Sometimes a product which seems like a joke actually is a disability living aid.

They've thought of that. Usually there's a function key mapped to enable/disable touchpads. If not, easy enough to enable a software switch sitting in the icon tray(although you'll probably need a plug-in mouse to turn it back on).

I'm a little curious - if not touchpads, what alternative for laptops would you propose? I had an IBM many moons ago with a joystick mouse nub. It wasn't that easy to use and it had a touchpad anyway - but that one was in a slightly sunken pit. Touchscreens?

No, This turns off the entire touchpad, not the auto-click. It would be ok if not for the constant click-click-click, that's the idiotic part. Like I said, if I want it to click then I'll #%@& click the button (like a regular mouse) what's the #%@& purpose of having it auto-click-click-click. when you didn't tell it to? I can't type anything. It auto-clicks off where I'm trying to type and #%@& up somewhere else.

I still have my old IBM laptop with the eraser-like nub Annachie. It's a reliable old dinosaur.

I always disabled the annoying auto-click. Many laptops feature a hardware switch on one of the keys or a keyboard shortcut of the Fn (F1 - F10) variety. Or you can simply follow this video...

You can certainly appreciate technology trying to alleviate the problems of yesteryear of a mouseless and padless laptop and having to accomplish everything with the keyboard. It's the thought that counts?

Idiotic 'joint pain reducer' things with copper in them. Strapping copper to the outside of your body is ABSOLUTELY FUCKING USELESS for anything besides making toxic green stains when you sweat on it.

Also, any similar product with magnets in it. You ain't magnetic, unless you've got pieces of metal in ya.

It´s been established that magnets/magnetic fields HAVE some sort of effect on human bodies, but noone have been able to show reliable evidence that you can use it as a treatment(although there are a few studies that suggests various possibilities, but clearly nothing drastical even if it works for something).

And it´s been established due to NEGATIVE effects, it is for example a known fact that train drivers that drive high magnetic field train engines develop cancer more often than their peers that drive low field engines.

Of course, most things are bad in too large doses, but that there is interaction is well established at least.

With the Caveats "if it works [for somebody] it is probably true," "If it doesn't work for does not mean it is not true" My vote for quackery is Reiki. And I'll second the magnets and copper stockings which are a variation of the copper bracelets people were wearing for arthritis relief back in the 70s.

While overall i´m leaning towards agreeing with you, if there´s one thing i´ve learned, it´s that medical science doesn´t know shit.

As examples, take just the last year, it was proven that the lymphatic system in fact DOES actually go to the brain as well, something "everyone knew" it did not, and then there´s the little surprise that its now confirmed that an additional organ was identified in the lower torso. What was previously "known" to be connective tissue is in fact an actual organ, and noone has the slightest idea what it does.

And like i said, there has been some serious studies that have gotten some indications that magnets MAY have some sort of effect beyond the obvious.

Reiki meanwhile, is actually not quackery at all, just incorrectly explained.
In modern terms, call it physically applied psychotherapy and you´re at least closer.
It´s basically another variation on exploiting that the human body responds to touch, like acupuncture, acupressure etc etc..

That´s not saying it works great or anything, but there´s something real in it, even if it´s not(at least as we can tell) what it´s supposed to be.
