Since the solly SD's were captured, and a short time later the MA blasted the orbitals of Manticore, Sail them back to Manticore, empty the magazines, and turn them into rough production lines for missiles.

Ok, so you plan to cut through the multiple layers of meters thick armor to install the machinery you don't have exactly how? |

They don't need to fully outfit the captured ships, just need them to appear as fully capable warships for the time being. That way they can bluff big time.

Who are they gonna be bluffing against? Manticore alone has enough SD(P)s and missiles to wipe out the SLN, why would they need to add a bunch of barely even paper tiger ships that eat up resources they don't have to spare? |

Did you even THINK before coming up with such a weak "can't" excuse? Bring the machinery in through one of the boat bays, silly! And "cutting through meters thick armor"??? The interior compartments ARE NOT made of meters thick armor, so bulkheads cut be cut to provide through-space for initial component fabrication. |

The core hull is in fact made of meters thick armor that wraps all the way around. The outer armor layer does only cover the flanks, but the core hull (with useful things like the reactors, hyper drive, bridge/CIC, life support systems, etc is protected against secondary projectiles produced by hits on the edge of the ship or by unfortunate events like a missile capacitor failing in a magazine. And no no, the ship is then internally subdivided outside the core hull with meters thick bulkheads to isolate damage (like say a capacitor in a missile magazine failing - a HIGHLY energetic event), which would otherwise be confined by the outer hull armor. And I notice that you have not answered the core problem, which is there is no equipment to build missiles available to install. And if there was it probably wouldn't fit given that they were making a thousand plus hundred-fifty ton missiles and hundreds of 3-5000 ton missiles pods every single day, so this requires a huge production facility and the ability to easily move around for shipping a 20,000 cubic meter pod. |

Um, the boast bays are fairly shallow, barely taller than a pinnace. And the opening from them into the rest of the ship are no wider than the internal passageways. Oh, and because of the explosive nature of the things parked there (even though they're in vacuum) an SD would definitely have some armor separating the ship from the boat bays (ensuring explosions vented out rather than deeper into the ship) Saying you bring oversized equipment through the boat bays is somewhat analogous to saying you could bring oversized equipment into a house through a carport. You might get it into the (exposed to the elements) parking area - but you'd still have to cut through walls to get it into the house / ship itself. If they are going after both the league and alignment, they need a lot of ships. Their enemies will try to track and record where and when ships are. Howling a couple of fake ships available will be a great cover.

You mean, like the 100 plus modern RMN SDs that they parked to man their current fleet? The ones with effective defenses, FTL communications, and missile launchers that cycle in less than geologic time? The ones they have the plans for and the plans for all the parts? The ones that they have tens of thousands of fully trained crewmen for? Why would they want to do anything with the SLN junk when they have an entire unused fleet that is at least 100% more effective on a ship for ship basis and 300% more effective on a manning basis? |

Yep, the wife and step-daughter found a wonderful deal on a sleeper sofa, Took me and 3 neighbors to remove the living room window (+ assorted siding, etc.) and lift it 6 feet up and through the window. Had to haul everyone down to the tavern for a round. Helas, chou, Je m'en fache.
