By at least some accounts, Nixon had a "respected elder
statesman" reputation for the last several years he lived.
It started with Anwar Sadat's funeral, when all three living
ex-Presidents (Nixon, Ford, Carter) were sent to represent
the United States. From then on, Nixon's advice was frequently
offered to Presidents - and accepted.

There will be no getting that back.
Ask Richard Nixon.

Nixon had his time in the Oval Office and a life time pension. "I'm not a crook" (define crook... he was more twisty than a bowl of spaghetti)

I would argue that Nixon abused power. That abuse did not undermine his political skill nor that of his foreign policy.

HRC is under a cloud for selling influence. Her opinion is available for purchase. That sort of undermines any political advice she might offer. Her experience as Sec State and lost elections argues for a lack of policy and political skills. I sort of doubt she can resurrect her reputation even a little bit.

More Clinton torture. Now in the role of the former first lady she has to attend the inauguration, smile and look happy with every paparazzi in the USA looking to signs of her emotional pain so that they can make it front page news. I hate the lady and am delighted she isn't president but this is cruel. Perhaps her doctor will conveniently diagnose a relapse of her pneumonia on January 19th?

SOMETHINGhas to get through to her that she will never be president. If this is what it takes, so be it. Please, for the sake of the Democratic party FALL ON YOUR SWORD.

This is your reminder that HRC won the popular vote by a wide margin.

And i just read an article about how at least 50 of the electors that voted Trump, did so illegally.

"More than 50 Electoral College members who voted for Donald Trump were ineligible to serve as presidential electors because they did not live in the congressional districts they represented or held elective office in states legally barring dual officeholders."

Not that i want them to fall back on the other legal options, as that would be either Clinton or, apparently, Powell, as the warmongering is already bad enough.

No, Democrats need their own Marcus Junius Brutus, the younger. Politically speaking, not literal. Clinton is too self centered to sacrifice anything she values.

I need no reminding. I have been a "Yellow Dog Democrat" since before there was such a term as "Blue Dog Democrat"
She lost the nomination to Obama in 2007. Winner of popular vote by 2.1% is hardly a wide margin. Yes it was the largest margin of popular vote win by any losing candidate, but an L is still an L 306 - 232. She still SUCKS as a candidate. The party would be better without her trying to run for president yet again, IMHO.

She wont run again.
That much is a given.

But she will be critically important to whomever does.

It is also worth looking for elected officials who do not live in the district which voted for them. I wonder how many would be found if this were searched for on all sides of the political spectrum :!:

From: The Growth Stock Wire, 12/10/16

Elizabeth received a strange letter from her congressman.

"We have to be on guard against our enemies… and not be afraid to name them."

A brave, forthright stand?

But wait, he didn't name the enemies.

That left us wondering: Who are our enemies?

Muslims, Jews, Arabs… Russians, Iranians, North Koreans… capitalists, the "Deep State," Yankees… liberals, conservatives?

And what does he mean by our?

A politician's enemies are more likely to be our friends than our enemies. Our most dangerous enemies could be the feds themselves!

But people love simple and preposterous lies. They much prefer them to the truth.

Truth is elusive, and doesn't make us feel good, unlike most lies. It takes work to test it, and many choose to be ignorant instead. Haven't most of us noticed this
