[quote="PeterZ"]Not the Tea Party, establishment GOP. That's why we got Trump in the first place. That POS legislation is a joke.

And the great Op has ..what as an alternative? privatization. that great market answer that adds 28% on topof everything and produces nothing for it. generates millions of executive bonuses for figuring out ways to get money for little or no patient care.

And when they won control of both houses they decided, quite publicly that they would have to show they could govern... Well that was a fiasco.

Maybe the whole GOP will go down in flames with Trump. But the congress actually functions when the GOP lest the Dems set policy and programs and brought the pipe dreams down to fiscal reality.

The country can NOT move forward by trying to go back.

The GOP can't organize sailors on leave into a swinger's sex club. The Dems are organized enough to to hire demonstrators to cause violence at Trump rallies....then blame Trump for the violence. Organized enough to allow government officials to bypass bribery laws and accept hundreds of millions in "donations" for selling influence to foreigners.

I am all for the GOP resisting Dem policies. They aren't able to. More often than not republicans in office agree with most of the Dem big government policies. They simply wasn't to control executing those policies.

That allegation comes from a video by James O'Keefe's "Project Veritas", notorious for "special editing" of video clips to slander progressive causes. They pulled a character-assassination job on ACORN, a community service organization, shutting them down from loss of donations. All of their allegations were later proved false.

Good work on ACORN. Special editing my Great Aunt Sally, but suit yourself. I find what was said comports well with my experience with Democrat politics growing up in Chicago. The President cut his teeth on Chicago politics. Also comports well with the emails that have been leaked by WikiLeaks. No big surprise what O'Keefe uncovered.

Would be funny, but ...

I still think the House Freedom Caucus is Tea Party, or at least far right and sympathetic to the Tea Party.

I recall a SF story where a technologist tricked everyone into something that would show when they knew they were lying.

Pardon my drooling, please?

In practice, a free or even a semi free nation needs some sort of "loyal opposition," not just in politics. Not only the politicos deal in corruption and hiding evidence, they are just quite good at it
:!:

The internet is allowing free lance journalists to do the work the "free" press should be doing. This may explain why the politicos arranged a change in who decides to hand out internet domains

I wish I didn't have to conclude that USA society is moving toward becoming a third world country. It may not take as long as we think either, look at the time line of Robert Mugabe and Zimbabwe

The internet is also allowing every whackjob to produce slick looking special-pleading bullshit. For example, the Flat Earthers have a huge YouTube presence.

You have to be joking, the fact that O'Keefe's modus operandi has been to deceptively edit his videos simply isn't seriously disputed...

And in the case of ACORN the guy he "busted" with his video had called the cops on him as soon as he left the office, he wasn't actually trying to help him perform any illegal activities... but that never gets mentioned by these jokers because they don't give a shit about reporting, they are not journalists they are propaganda specialists pursuing an agenda so they just pushed their video anyway.

What part of getting a concerned rsponsible citizen who went to law enforcement to report some shady idiots trying to get a brothel set up to lose his job... as well as stoking hysteria that shut down an entire organization whose only crime was to be the focus of ridiculous right wing electing rigging conspiracy theories, do you consider worthy of the "Good work" praise you just offered?

The courts rather disagree with you, considering O'Keefe ended up having to pay the guy $100,000 in damages because his video was bullshit slander.

Our economy has partially been third world since Reagan. Whether the purists here wish to call it fascist or Communist, with the help of Antonin Scalia we have become a more authoritarian police state.

The 4th Amendment is virtually repealed. Cops no longer need "probable cause" merely "reasonable suspicion." They don't need a warrant, merely the "belief" that they have a warrant. You live at 589 198th AV NW. The police have a warrant for 958 189th St SE. They bust into your home and find your stash of 1/4oz. of Marijuana. Too bad. They "thought" they got the right place. Not their fault. No violation of the 4th Amendment.

And the republicans want to keep government off our backs. Cognitive dissonance... much.
