Time is ticking down and it will not be long before the current arc of the Honorverse is finished.
My questions are: Will there be another series taking us forward? If there is, when will it begin in in-verse time, and when in real world time can we expect the first book? Who is going to take over from David and write the next arc? And finally are there going to be anymore anthologies that will give us Honorverse forumites our yearly fix until the next arc starts up? .

I had pretty much those same questions myself. Along with another, or similar.
Will they ever take on a life of their own in the imagination of many other writers as the Star Trek series has? Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

David said, at the first Honocon IIRC, that his then 12y/o daughter would take over if he couldn't complete the series
We shall see. |

How old is she now? Is she a forum member? There are a couple of writers in the forum who I'd like to see give it a go, after the series is wrapped. You know who you are. Which daughter? David has twin daughters.
The twins are now 15, and I doubt very much they post (or even lurk) here. Homework and stuff, y'know? =================

I have no idea. I know it was one of them, but I wouldn't recognize any of his kids if I ran into them tomorrow. It was big general session at the end, so I'm sure one of the Bu9 folks who was there would know. |

While I've got a new novel just out that (I hope) is significantly better than my previous ones, not to mention better received, I feel quite certain that I'm not one of those you have in mind. Which is fine. I'd hate to have to step into - and wallow around in - MWW's shoes. I'm too busy finding my own. Tony

a lot of writers i know started out writing for star trek or WH40K, star wars, stargate etc while they basically found their feet. also to build up a following who they hoped would then follow them and buy whatever they wrote no matter that be for something like ST/SW/SG1 etc or a new and original universe of their own.
one one hand I can see the benefits, they probably don't make a lot but creating a following they increase the odds of the "breakout" book doing better then then the writer who jumped straight to their own universe. that said a lot of the time i don't want a franchise book. no matter how they try i often find franchise books a pale reflection of the TV/films they came from. so i tend to prefer writers who only write in their own universe. then their are the writers like Tim Zhan or S M Stirling, tim's SW and HV books are great but I struggle with his original works, they just seem to lack something. S M Stirling's Terminator books are brilliant and should be used for the next terminator film, but i can't stand his other works, i do well to get half way before i give up on them, and i HATE not finishing a book, even a bad one. |

Actually, you are one of the writers I had in mind. Don't sell yourself short. I like the free chapter of this offering and I intend to purchase the book. Perhaps I'll purchase several and send them to friends abroad. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense.
