Looking in the Glossary, there is going to be another new weapon: Kau-yung's striker (aka, a flamethrower)
---------------
As it is possible for employees to become disgruntled, I believe it is critical to find ways to keep them gruntled. |

Not the best idea. They are impressive, yes, but only in close combat, and they could be relatively easy reverse-engineered by the Church. ------------------------------
Oh well, if shortening the front is what the Germans crave, Let's shorten it to very end - the length of Fuhrer's grave. (Red Army lyrics from 1945) |

Still, if the ICA is going to face heavy fortifications, flamethrowers can prove quite useful. The marines used them quite effectively against the japanese army during WWII.

I think I found one other note of interest in the Glossary "Bombsweeper". I do believe that many have speculated on the possibility of Dohlar (and others) using navel mines to aid in harbor or waterway defense. Seems like someone must have if the ICN has a ships designation for minesweepers. Congratulations to all those that argued for this possibility. It appears you all have presumed correctly. Larry |

I'm sure they could. But flamethrowers are most effective against fixed fortifications, and the Charisian strategy is one of mobility. Against a mobile infantry force with mortars, they're just not all that useful. Besides, if things move fast enough, the temple boys will never get the chance. Larry |

Dilandu, you missed the point. The text preview of At the Sign of Triumph is up on Amazon as of this morning. It includes portions of the glossary. CdnGunner is not speculating about flamethrowers, he is saying that the glossary of AST directly refers to flamethrowers as "Kau-yung's striker." Therefore, they are introduced. |

Does it say which side did the introducing? Don - When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

No, it does not. However, given that it is another Kau-Yung named device, I am fairly confident that it will be Charis. They are further along in handling compressed air. ---------------

Yes, I agree. If the church was introducing it, then it would be named for either Langhorn or Schueler. |
