Question about Dempsey's

Another thing I was just reminded of while rereading.
The Dempsey's on the space station had scenes from other Dempsey's locations beamed to their location - Specifically mentioned was Yawata Crossing. :o

Do any of the planetside locations do the same thing with video feeds as the location that was on the station?

Unknown. I don't think we've seen any other Dempsey's franchise. I would think not -- at least not on every "window" -- because there's no need to simulate a view.

There might be one or more windows showing other locations in planet-side locations as a "gimmick" or trademark of Dempsey's but there just isn't any textev.

My question about Dempsey's is how big are they.... they appear to be the only restaurant anyone visits on the 3 big stations.... which means each serves a city of 2-3 million people and visitors... as the only restaurant anyone uses.

Blackbird appears to have had a Dempsey's. And other places such as Birdies'. Which was probably as much of a restaurant as Hooters.

Which brings another question. Do you really see Grayson's main shipyard and Fleetbase having an establishment like Birdies? Anyplace else, sure... but Grayson?

But, am I correct that the only times we've been entertained in a restaurant or any mention thereof is when the rich (Honor) and the elite were eating out on special occasions? The rich and the elite can afford Dempseys. They wouldn't want to eat at the Honorverse equivalent of Mickey Dees. It's Dempseys not "Dumpsters" so let's not get it twisted. Which only gives the illusion of Dempseys being the only restaurant. Perhaps the crew members that can't afford it splurge on their prize money or from Dempseys' gift certificates obtained from Honor or someone else.

Dempseys surf and turf includes the entire experience of fishing from a huge aquarium. Dempseys only caters to the filthy rich and the sordidly opulent. LOL

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

IIRC, the scene setting up "A Field of Dishonor" occurred there too. And none of the RMN types involved were rich I think it's that he wrote it up and kept reusing it. Then again, I almost never eat out other than at about 7 different chains, and 90% of the time it's one or another location of 3 chains.

Well also mentioned in Field of Dishonor was that Captain McKeon picked up the "cover charge" to visit Honor prior to her leaving to be invested as Steadholder Harrington. And other than Lieutenant Tremaine, every single other Harrington-clique we have ever seen eating at Dempseys was a full commander or higher.

Which basically makes Dempsey's into an unofficial Officer-club, where the only junior ranks that come in, are the ones that have rich families and a good bank balance. Excluding the purely civilians that clearly used it to, as when Harrington came in to challenge Summervale; he was a civilian and there were many civilian witnesses to her challenge.

The restaurant with the floating tables where Honor and company were attacked by Young's thugs was NOT Dempsey's.

Dempsey's seems to be about the same class as the PT's Pub chain here in Vegas, or perhaps Applebee's or Hooter's for a national restaurant chain. It's a touch above Denny's or IHOP, but not real rich and exclusive.
