And that's for anything doing it within the inner 80% of the hyperlimit zone.

But since the outer 20% area of a hyper limit is also
any ship that tries to translate in the outer 20%, cant
, that would also imply it's also impossible to translate within the inner 80%. It's almost contradictory information, but it's clear that translating inside that hyperlimit, either you can't or Bad Things Happen, and eliminate any possibility of hyper deployed Alpha-band crossing weapons, whether bomb, missile, or Unmanned Armed Vehicles.

Coloration was from Vince in the Hyper torp thread, and I'm just too lazy to strip it back out, since it highlights exactly what we need to see.

Echoes of Honor, Chapter 33 wrote:Karen Lowe was an excellent astrogator, but a hyper voyage this long provided a great deal of scope for minor astrogation errors to produce major results. Overshooting their intended n-space translation point wouldn't be all that terrible . . . unless, of course, they overshot it too badly. A ship which attempted to translate out of hyper inside a star's hyper limit couldn't. As long as it made the attempt within the outer twenty percent of the hyper limit, all that happened was that it couldn't get into n-space. If it made the attempt any further in than that, however, Bad Things happened. Someone had once described the result as using a pulse cannon to fire soft-boiled eggs at a stone wall to see if they would bounce. Lester Tourville rather doubted they would, and even if he was wrong, it was a proposition he had no desire at all to test firsthand.

Actually, the text is not contradictory at all. Consider the three scenarios of a starship in the alpha band of hyper space attempting to translate to normal space:

1) Ship is outside the hyper limit, attempts to translate to normal space, successfully translates to normal space.

2) Ship is inside the hyper limit, but is not any further inside the limit than 20% of the distance from the hyper limit towards the celestial object generating the hyper limit (measured in normal space). Ship attempts to translates to normal space, is unsuccessful in its attempt and remains in hyperspace. The crew realizes they overshot the hyper limit and abort the attempt.

3) Ship is inside the hyper limit, but has gone past 20% of the distance from the hyper limit towards the celestial object generating the hyper limit (measured in normal space). Ship attempts to translates to normal space, is unsuccessful in its attempt, remains in hyperspace. Simultaneously, Bad Things happen.

Note: Bad Things happening in the Honorverse are usually if not always, accompanied by violent discharges of energy. As in: "An Earth-shattering KA-BOOM."

The question is, could we provide that those Bad Thing would apeear on the other side of the Alpha Wall? If we could, than cross-wall weaponry could be created.

Oh well, if shortening the front is what the Germans crave,
Let's shorten it to very end - the length of Fuhrer's grave.

No, the Bad Things will stay in the hyper band where they started. Crossing a hyper wall (either to change the level of the hyper band--either up or down, or to translate to normal space) requires an intact, functioning hyper generator that uses power to cross the wall, in order to bring any physical object and the translation energy into the target space (either another hyper band or normal space).

I'm not completely sure. The Mesan spider drive seems capable to at least partially penetrate the barrier between normal space and hyperspace. So, probably the extension of such technology could be designed as either the "no hyper-limit" hyperdrive, or the "transhyper" weapon system.

The Mesan spider drive is also described as something of an insanely powerful tractor beam, that punches into the Alpha wall and locks into that for the 'leverage' to move the ship.

It's essentially just a more powerful version of the grav transmitters at the core of the FTL Ghost Rider comms, which send a ripple/bounce off the Alpha wall, which can be used from deep within grav wells, but still doesn't mean it actually has the ability to cross the wall.

To actually cross the wall itself, like Vince pointed out, you need a full, functional hyper generator which is considerably larger than the pulse transmitters on Ghost Rider drones or Hermes Buoys.

Even if some sort of gravity weapon could be engineered to destroy a star, why would anyone bother? Even 4th rate navies have all they need to destroy any undefended target they want using kinetic and nuclear weapons but with those weapons there is still the potential of reaping spoils from the star system. Destroy the system and then you have nothing to gain.

The cost of developing such a weapon would be extraordinary, for the same price one could probably construct an immense battle fleet to overwhelm their enemies the old fashion way.

With multi stage missiles all you need is a big enough for hyper generator and sails massive pod / fire control system. The Multi stage missiles can hit any target inside the hyper limit. Mass fire it once it crashes through and enjoy the destruction.

Besides most larger systems will have buoy's in the Alpha band pointing out where the hyper limit is, to keep civilian traffic safe.

I am impressed by the depths of your continued and deliberate ignorance. There are no buoys in hyperspace. The hyper log exists because there is no method with which to obtain reliable navigational fixes.

This is why i suggested a bubble wedge. A wedge can eat through anything theoretically. A bubble wedge should be able to fall into and destroy the core of a star eight times the density of steel or not. The nodes would need be custom made and no one would be on the ship bomb or whatnot. Just give it a push as it crashes out of hyperspace and watch, from a distance, as it falls into and screws up the star.

Just how damn dense are you? The physics do not work like that! RFC clearly explained how the wedge is formed and how it works. Stop making up your own shit and read (and comprehend!) the fucking novels.
