I'd had mixed feelings about the chapter length spoilers MWW has been posting.

On the one hand, Great! Whole Chapters! Whoo-oo!

On the other, I was getting worried that these three chapters might encompass 5% of the book.

Now that I've downloaded the eARC, I'm excited to see that the chapters are numbered through SEVENTY SEVEN!!!! With an Epilogue. Whoo!

On the downside, I see that the the last "Post Diaspora" time code is for October 1922, same as Cauldron of Ghosts. I was hoping to get a little further.

Oh well. See you in a week!

Wait you got chapters through 77? Mine was over halfway through at 39...

How did you get the full eARC?!

Yeah, just finished the book, and concerns about the timing of the book are extremely well justified. It honestly ends just after Shadow of Freedom. As in instead of ending when the fleet heads to Mesa, it ends shortly after the fleet gets to Mesa, literally a single chapter covers that. I was incredibly disappointed in the book to be honest. It felt very padded with a handful of slight variations of rebellions that are functionally identical taking up a huge amount of the word count without honestly adding to the overall plot.

I would not recommend the eARC to anyone, its simply not worth the price.

Thanks for the down low, I can definitely skip the eArc so that's very helpful information. I'm frankly flabbergasted that the book ends there. And then the next book is planned to wrap the series, at least the main storyline? I don't really understand what's going on to be honest.

What's especially discouraging is this has been the pattern for so many books now, and we had to wait so long to not advance the story forward in time >at all< is hard to take. I remember having the same feeling at the end of CoG and that was so long ago. It really struck home as I did a full re-read of the series and the change subsequent to At All Costs is really quite striking.

I'm sure I'll enjoy the book once I get it... I dearly love the story and the characters... but this is very discouraging news.
