Think of all the hits this is generating on the Baen web site. I hope their servers can handle it.

No...damn, that was On Basilisk Station in the free books

My bad...sorry

That was rude;-) Didn't finish the post. Hopped to Bean even though I had just visited the site to check.

Grumble, grumble....
O

OK I said this last week, and now I will say it again: "HEY BAEN, COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS". Do not just leave the people out here twisting in the wind, tell us when you expect to be able to release the book.

Be conservative in your estimate, people will understand that the book is delayed. But for gods sake, talk to us. If you release before you say you plan to, you will gather in some good will. But pulling this nonsense, where you just go silent, is just pissing off the people that keep your doors open.

TALK TO US BAEN, TELL US WHEN WE CAN REALISTICALLY EXPECT THE BOOK!!!!

Agreed. They're needlessly generating ill will. If it's going to be Friday tell us Friday and if it doesn't come in Thursday night or however long their prep time is, TELL US. Don't go silent.

I'd like a date also, but in Baen's defense it isn't really their fault. RFC has said he got behind in his writing due to real life issues and that he was late turning in the draft of SoV. And then he had to do some revisions to it. For that matter, I have not yet seen him confirm that he finished the revisions on time. But it seems to me that since Baen has been waiting for the book, it is probably hard for them to give a definite date.

"How about the 1st of never? That works for me, does it work for you?"

It seems a little graceless to be complaining about the unavailability of a book months before its official scheduled publishing date.

Baen and RFC are trying to do something cool for all of us fans by making their titles available early to us. We should be thankful for that, as they certainly are under no obligation to do that.

I'd like to thank RFC for all the great work he has done. And the nice folks at Baen, as well.

I consider the fact that RFC was on the forum today to be a good thing. If he was late, I expect he wouldn't have stopped by even briefly

It is not "graceless" to expect a book to be delivered as part of a "Monthly Bundle", that I have paid for to be release on the date that was designated for delivery. Baen offered a the 1st half of the "Shadows of Victory" for sale on the 15th of August, 2016. I accepted that offer and purchased the 1st half of the book. That sort of dealing is usually called commerce on the free market. It is not "graceless" to expect that a contracted purchase to be delivered as promised. If you chose to wait for the paper print (which I will also purchase)to read the book in November, that is your choice. But when I contract for something to be delivered, I expect it to be delivered.

If for some reason that contract cannot be fulfilled, on/or before the designated delivery date, If a reasonable explanation is given, I being a reasonable human being, will give some leeway. But I expect some sort of explanation (which I believe we have been given by Mr. Weber), and I expect to be given a new expected delivery date (which Baen has FAILED to give).

It is not "graceless" to expect a contract to be fulfilled, or at least some sort of communication from the party that failed to uphold their end of the contract.

Communicating when there is an issue with an anticipated delivery date is only good business. This expected communication with your customers, is the part for which Baen has failed miserably.

For your information. RFC was not on the forum to date. his last post was Saturday the 20th. Check your facts.
