I can see Grayson upgrading their officer training academy by asking Honor to redesign it from the ground up. Saganami Island can't fulfill their officer training needs now or in the future. She might also be asked to establish a GSN Crusher to rival Saganami Island's.

Before long Grayson would be producing the most capable female middies.

And you just have to know that Grayson's Crusher would rival the RMN's. Honor would strike a true balance between the jeune ecole and the historical school, creating a truly profound amalgamation - a superset of the two. Seeing that Honor would have a much freer hand there - unlike she would ever have at Saganami Island. Benjamin's dream would ring even truer...

"I have a dream, that Jews and Gentiles"...

oops, wrong dream...

" that Graysons and Infidels, men and women, will enjoy 'cohabitation without proclamation' of 'recreation without procreation' towards the facilitation of an amalgamation of Tester's Will."

Now that you've mentioned it, Honor retiring on Sphinx would denote that the galaxy is finally in alignment. Hey, "in alignment." Not mal-aligned. That was totally by accident. Honest. Spontaneous introspection.

Defending her hang-gliding championship would only be a seasonal thing. And she'd grow unchallenged and begin to feel like a showoff after several years or so. What need is it that Michael Phelps will continue to rack up gold medals? Where do you stop? 25? 50? At some point our built-in sense of sport and fairness kicks in and we tell ourselves that we don't have anything else to prove. Unless we do. Even our friends tell us that.

We are taught that after awhile, you back off. In football, if you have a team beat 101-0, you put in your third string. No need to run up the score.

"In the Olympics there is! Guiness is recording it!" LOL

Yet, with the White Haven Estate, her marriage, Grayson, etc., is it realistic that she'll ever make it back to Sphinx to actually live?

And didn't 'Liz give Honor a rainforest or something? If Honor never uses it, 'Liz might reacquire it. LOL

I think it was more on the order of Grand Teton National Park. Or maybe Denali. On Gryphon.

And the Lake House.

Not to "Cross the Streams," but didn't Wrath of Khan start out as a middie training cruise?

It did at that. I completely missed that parallel. Thanks.

Some of those middies died, barely having turned their tassels.

Then again, maybe since she will be sick of all that killing, she'll want to work at healing, and pick up the practice of being a doctor, as both her parents are.

With prolong, she could go back to school at 100 years old and get her Doctors degree, and still have a long career doing that.

FBTF: (Funny Bone Tuning Fork)

The Salamander, at this point, also has a statue erected of her on Sphinx, Manticore and Haven.

Haven led the remaining pack by erecting a statue of the Salamander shortly after she retired. When she formally retired. The Havenites were then certain that she would never come back to haunt them. So, carved on their statue was to be the words...

"Here stands the WOMAN who haunted us in our nightmares but is now a friend, in reality."

Seems there were still Havenites — child and adult alike, who flat out refused to venture beyond their homes or sleep in the dark — which suggested the reassuring need of an "Erectus Salamandas" to show that she is harmless.

Their initial statue had to be destroyed. Some idiot thought that a statue with the Salamander holding a child would convey love. Yet the child's legs were precariously dangling 10 meters off the ground and instead appeared as if the Salamander was just plucking young kids off the street to eat.

The second statue was also a bust and had to be put down. It featured a lovely "smiling" Salamander. Then one following morning no more than a week after unveiling the statue, had what appeared to be an object lodged half inside her "smiling mouth." Some kid's Cruiser-like drone had crashed into and gotten lodged in her teeth. That frightened way too many Havenites who immediately feared that the statue had become angry and was an omen that she had resumed her old habits of picking her teeth with Cruisers.

Third time's a charm. Honor herself suggested that the statue be of her in her more charming Grayson attire. Yet the long flowing gown gave a 10 meter statue the stature of a female giant. Many were still frightened. One morning a freak weather system had somehow toppled the giant statue. The Salamander was now helplessly lying on her back, and the usual belt around her waist that Grayson women wore to cinch their midsection and properly model the gown, appeared to be a band of steel and makes the Salamander appear captured while lying on the beach — as in Gulliver's travels. In fact, this very popular statue is now entitled "Salamander's Travels" and still stands, err lay, today. It is so popular that kids play all over her in the sand. She appears to be Gulliver's descendant and all of the kids are the little people tying her down with rope.

Art truly does imitate life.
