The book is in hyper and coming through the junction at any moment. It's a short travel once in hyper. But we want to be patient. We don't want the book to come roaring through the junction in a crash translation.

Just as long as the author considers that a snippet a day prevents hair loss.

Actually, it's a test of Schrödinger's book theorem.

You mean the one that states that depending on whether you actually open the box to affect reality, dictates whether the cat in the box is alive and reading the book or not?

The cat is in a state of flux of reading and not reading the book, because the book is in a state of flux being both inside and not inside the box? OIC, you're suggesting a quantum entanglement of entanglements between covers?

Brilliant!

There's a "review" on the book at baenebooks.com:

Norm, Perhaps you have not realized that this release of 1/2 of the book IS the only e-arc. The whole book is scheduled to be released in November 2016. THERE WILL BE NO WHOLE BOOK e-arc. I am happy to pay $15 or even $25 for the whole book, now. But to be forced to buy it twice...

I don't know if JB is here, but I don't want to continue commenting back and forth in reviews for a book that's not even out.

Did I miss something? Has there been actual news that there will not be an eARC for SoV? My presumption has been that they'll sell the eARC as soon as RFC gets it to Baen.

JB, if you read this, I don't understand why you think you have to buy the book twice? (Just buy the bundle and wait 'till October or buy the full book in November, or wait for the eARC and buy it now.

Even if there is no eARC, the worst I can see is paying $18 instead of $15 for the bundle in lieu of the eARC, and for the extra $3 you get 4 books now and another 3 in October. I can't see that as a rip-off.

Now it's marked officially as delayed until further notice ...
So let the Nervous_wait_for_SOVics begin!
Anyone like to take a guess, for how long we have to wait?

Nooooo!

Oh well. I was going to read through ART, SoF and CoG to get ready. Maybe I'll go further back in the timeline instead.

RFC is active on the forums for the first time in many many months, taunting us in the 'out of order' snippet thread on the Safehold forums, so I wouldn't expect much of a delay for the eARC. He probably wouldn't be here if he was still buried under SoV.

Now, a 2.5 month turnaround for the physical book might be asking a bit much, even for Baen.

Sometimes people just need a break to step away from the book for a short break before going back to work on it more.

The book is supposed to be turned into Baen by Monday. That is contingent on a section of it which needs checking by a foreign language editor who is working on it even now. So far as I know, Baen is still planning an October release if I get it to them before the end of this month.

They did the turn around on Cauldron of Ghosts in only six weeks, people. As I said earlier in this thread (for those who have read it) if anyone can turn it around in two months, it's Baen. They are fast when they need to be!
