Funny Skimper, I remember a Havenite city-class destroyer which has almost no beams and a missile armament most light cruisers would envy engaging 3 larger, and better technology warships and winning for the first 45 seconds despite fighting at beam range.
You still insist lots and lots of lasers are good? when you can take a missile destroyer at point blank range against 2 other ships and almost win, if the heavy cruiser had stayed out of the fight? |

I'll give you a big small ship. The Roland to replace the Ferret LAC. The Ferret seems to be the odd LAC out. New Roland. Even call it a Roland.
Roland Attack Craft; It attacks really well. AC (Attack Craft) not light. LAC need support on station, these tend to be CLAC but during battles CLAC are better to hyperspace out. Come back later. Roland AC 200,000+ Tons depends on new configuration. Same Roland Hammerheads Broadside slightly different. Three Keyhole dock type LAC Bays per broadside DD Lasers 4 CM(L) 12 PD 12 No Hyperspace Generator, no Warshawski sails, No Alpha Nodes, just Beta Squared Nodes. Shorter, but wider. (Doesn't need hyperspace dimensions) 50 metres tall 80 Metres wide at its widest. A bit shorter 310+ metres. LAC Docks with mild repair service and rearming mainly CM's. LACDock might rotate LAC to repair the "Outside". It could be that only LAC crew would find the Roland to be spacious. New CM Tube for new Viper Missiles. DDVM is a capacitor based Dual Drive Viper missile. 12-19 Million Km range. I'm not fluent in Physics or Math perhaps some can translate. It is the same diameter but almost twice as long as a Counter missile. Ballistic phase adds to range. ERVM Extended Range Viper Missile. Longer single drive viper missile. Could be made to fire at a longer duration slower acceleration rate? Tubes could also fire standard CM's. ________________________________________

Do we know enough about Mesan tech to request a "Blade Runner" of a streak boat armed with advances in sensor tech and LD stealth borne to run blockades?

Just for the fun of it, my newly announced SD class
 , the System Defender... otherwise known as a Great Big Whale of a freighter. Dropping off.... [y'all choose the mix...]Mine looks like 3-4 dozen mixed LACs and support platforms, plenty of Marines, Mycrofts + GR R/D(s), and the rest in a mix o missile pods. Maybe said GBW effectively dismantles itself into the start of a mobile shipyard/repair yard as well. Thoughts? ---------------------

Why don't we just include a "bag of holding" in every freighter? Then when it gets to it's destination, it just pulls all the resources from the Manticore system (which we've put into the bag) as needed? Heck, we could just mount the bag of holding in a dispatch boat - who need 8Mton freighters? We could point it out the back and if anyone tries to chase the DB, we could just have an SD(p) (loaded in the bag) fire it's point defense to defend the DB and roll it's pods to take out the target. ----someone stop me before I get more ridiculous---- ******

Why? This thread has already exposed the most likely advances and, thanks to Skimpy detoured into TARDIS-Tech to solve problems that don't exist. I rather like the idea of a DB + Bag of Holding. Add an improved Streak Drive that can reach the Omega Band of Hyperspace and you've got a real winner.  .

I'm going to suggest the one-of-a-kind Timberwolf-class BC(L).
It's identical to the Nike-class, except it's to scale (6-8 feet long?) and cut from a single log by a chainsaw sculptor. If built, it would likely be assigned to Weber Station in the Carolina Sector...  |

Dreadnaught. 7 Mtons The SD(P) has a single vulnerability a rear hammerhead hit can disable its firepower entirely. Studying the Roland one has determined it is a design that can be scaled up. Using the Mk16 missile and a Double stage Apollo missile. (Apollo can be used with any missile) Scaling the Roland up to DR size one is able to mount 88 tubes per hammerhead. DR Armour. Beleraphon DR sized. Added to that the Broadside will mount 12 Apollo tubes each. Add 50 CM\L and 50 PD plus a Keyhole II and 4 LAC side docks. Finally top it off with four clusters of 7 DD lasers optimised for anti Missile. 2/3/2 hex pattern cluster of lasers. This gives a Missile throw weight of 200 176Mk16 plus 24 Apollo per salvo. About all a Ship's telemetry can handle. This is unstacked. Apollo giving it the range it needs, extra accuracy and firepower. With 60 plus missiles per tube, this is a real competent ship. Operating in a wall as a set of 50-75 ship groups. This will give 10000-15000 missiles per salvo. Add in 200-300 LAC and this is a ship that can be the wall if need be. 50 CM\L Counter Missile long tubes. Long ranged DDVM Dual Drive Viper Missiles. Either with a Viper laser rod or EW light missile. Add in the Apollo Viper pod, 8 Viper missiles in a Single stage Apollo missile. 12 time 8 = 96 Viper missiles each broadside. Each ship is able to launch 292 Viper Missiles over a long range. Using a Ballistic phase a very long range. Able to Attack smaller ships and groups. LAC DD CL. 50-75 could swamp even larger ship defenses with 14,600-21,900 Long range Viper or LEW (Light Electronic Weapon). ________________________________________
