As for the cliffhanger, I'd guess that a certain ironclad just steamed to within view of the Dohlaran troops dug in around Evrytyn... ouch!

Th unhappy Lt is the platoon ldr of the Engineers who blew up the obstacles to allow Barnes to get at Rychtyr's batteries covering the river and to support the marine attack up the river.
The last we heard from from Rychter he was beginnig to fall back to prepared positions well out of reach of Bahrnes so I'm skeptical this is about the ironclad's moving up.

'Course I've been wrong before. :)

Finally! :D Thanks RFC!

And, I'm not sure digging is the best way to get out of a hole!

Regarding Thirsk, I'm wondering how he will act now when he knows that his family is alive. He can't just suddenly turn around from the dark drunk soul destroying funk he has been in. It's going to be interesting to see how he handles it. Does he tell Maik (which I find improbable)?

Oh, goody RFC has posted a snippet yay!!!!

Now we can stop groveling, begging, pleading, cajoling, whining, brown nosing etc.

Now commence speculating, misinterpreting, reading between the lines etc. Before we repeat the above.
