I have two major questions concerning this book..
1- Is this where Manticore discovers the junction and do we get to see the first crew pop out of it, smack dab in the middle of the SL? And then see the crew that discovers that the other output is 200 LY closer to Haven? 2- Will we see any 'Cats? |

I'd say maybe to both. I think the second book put us at 1543 PD, which is already 22 years after Stephanie Harrington discovered the 'cats. Adopted 'cats would likely be ever rarer than in Honirs time, but there must be some around. And they were probably more in the news; it would only be another 25 years before the 9th Ammendent to the Manticoran constitution guaranteed their basic sentient rights. So it's not impossible that we will run into somebody who has been adopted by a 'cat. The wiki timeline says the Mantupiciran wormhole was discovered in 1585 PD. Whether we'd see that in this next book would seem to defend on how much of Travis Long's career Timothy Zahn wants to skip over. If there are enough interesting event we might not get to it, if not maybe things will jump forward. I think at Honorcon last Oct they talked about having worked on designs for the 16th century Andermandi ships, so maybe that's a hint that we do see the Gregor terminus discovered in this next book. |

The Mantupiciran wormhole? Did you hiccup? -------------------------------------------------------------

Given that, as Jonathan_S said above, the junction isn't officially discovered until 1585, I would expect we won't get there. Skipping ahead 10 boring years for Travis is understandable; jumping 30 isn't. Travis would be on the edge of retirement at that point. Given his personality, I don't see him being Rear Admiral Long, unless it's a desk assignment. (And that would make for a boring book) |

And what of the Fair Lisa? Who would be at least a Rear Admiral, if not higher ranked. |
