From our friendly administrator, Duckk, as posted on the "AtSoT AFTER HonorCon ..." at 9am today, 07/01/16 -
Ok, I have spoken to Tom Pope (who in turn spoke to David), and he has confirmed that AtSoT is not complete. David is working on it right now, but he has not completed the first draft yet. :( :o

Now we know, so this probably moves the publish date to Fall of 2017 (pure guess on my part!) :?

You think it's going to delay it a year? I'm hoping just a few months at most. Since we don't know what "is not complete" means impossible to say. Hopefully just some editing.....

The active words are "... not completed the first draft yet." This means that MWW will probably get the clean copy done sometime late this year and then it has to be 'print scheduled' by TOR / Macmillan. Their scheduling appears to prefer the Safehold books to come out in the Fall BUT #7, LaMA, came out in February of 2014 so there is hope. I would like to be wrong about the Fall and see it earlier BUT (if not) maybe we will get (whisper it) 8-) Snippets for Spring! 8-)

A good slogan for now - AtSoT Salivating for Spring Snippets PLEASE!

Short of a miracle, we won't see ATSoT on schedule in October, but I suspect we could start seeing snippets about that time or a bit later. My impression is that snippets start about the same time the book is turned in to the publisher.

Thanks to Duckk for getting us an update...

"Has not finished the first draft yet" covers a lot of ground. It ranges from "hasn't started" to "need to finish the last chapter" - which is a pretty big range of "incompleteness". If it's closer to the latter than the former, I suspect it could still meet the publishing schedule. After all, I've read other books which obviously had poor, if any, editing - some glaring name switches, syntactic and grammatical errors, you name it. For that matter, obvious errors in the "unproofed" ARC's sometimes make it all the way to the final print version. That must say something about today's editors; in general it seems older books tend to be more "error free" than the new ones, even with all the modern tools now available. With modern typesetting, I suspect it could take less than a day to go from electronic media to first printed copy. If anything, printing the desired number of copies of the hardcover version (that all these publishers still seem to put priority on) is likely to take more time than getting the press(es) set up to actually do the printing.

On another note, however, most authors I've ever talked to generally write from beginning to end. Sometimes there might be some embellishment in the middle as the story gets closer to complete, but not much. So I don't know if the entire draft needs to be complete before some of the earlier snippets start to show; especially if RFC turns that task over to a moderator or administrator.

David specifically said he had about a week's worth of work left. He said that on Sunday. Assuming he's still on track, he's about halfway through. That said, he does have a con appearance coming up this weekend, so that's going to push things off a bit.

Just got an email updating my December 2015 order for "At the Sign of Triumph" from U.S. Amazon. It was to tell my that my order delivery date has been pushed back to 8 November 2016. This at least gives me hope that I will have it as an early Christmas present to myself.

Ditto for me from Amazon - WOW, does that ever sound BETTER than I thought! :D

HOWEVER, if we had some snippets to kinda confirm it, now that would be nice! (If we don't ask RFC will think we don't care!)

At least, that should give me time to read the Honorverse book first! :D
