It is interesting that the publication date is still 10/26/16. - Don

I suspect that the 10/26/16 publication date will NOT change until a, "cross your heart", real date is given to the vendors OR we pass the 10/26 date without any update. Please God, let it be the former as the latter would indicate real problems!

Given the time lag Tor seems to need to get a book out and what we know of RFC's progress via Duckk's reporting, it is hard to see the 10/26 date holding up.

Once RFC surfaces, he is going to want to watch our reactions. Therefore he knows he can't surface until he has both honor and safehold books wrapped up.

Purely selfishly, I can't avoid feeling a tiny hope you're wrong. If you're right, it's going to play absolute hell with my work schedules . . . ;)

By the way, did anybody besides me have difficulty accessing this thread earlier today? Say about 8 hours earlier than the time of this message? I couldn't get near it, it just hung.

I would take that with a boulder of salt. It's the same as people who bombarded the Ghostbusters movie with negative ratings weeks before it actually came out - people are just voting things up or down because they can.

Most movie studios have "test" advance showings. I'm not exactly sure how you get to be a part of one (never really cared, either); but it's possible some of those reviewing and voting on a movie actually were part of that.

I've also heard that at times the movie shown at such an event isn't exactly the same as the one released to general audiences; the studio "tweaks" the final result based on input from the attendees.

And, of course, there *are* the folks Duckk notes as well.

I would also guess that there might "Advance Reader Copies" that go to some book reviewers even possibly before the eARCs show up on Baen; so the editors can get some possibly unbiased opinions on any changes that might make the story line a bit better - or at least more believable. They might even provide first drafts; with the stipulation that those copies not get distributed further.
