It is possible (I'm just speculating here) that TOR has asked RFC to not snippet this time, or make any announcements about AtSoT. As far as two books coming out at the same time, both companies are trying to hit the Christmas market, and I think that they have concluded that the advantages of having a new DW book available for Christmas out weigh the disadvantages of having two DW books published at the same time.
I'd say that they pretty much have that one right - us fanatics would buy both immediately, even if they were published on the same day - leading to a three day binge of reading both without sleeping, eating, working, etc. With a week between - a mere bagatelle. Plenty of time to finish AtDoT before SoV arrives.
Totally agree. I would look to be re-reading them over Christmas.
I remember when somebody told me about
Lord of the Rings in 1962. I got it out of the library at 9:45 on a Saturday morning (because that was when the library opened), went completely incommunicado for the rest of the day, finished it at 5:00 p.m., and went out and bought it. I don't know how many times I've re-read it since – I lost count years ago.
And generally speaking, at some point I re-read the Safehold series every time it is added to.
