Let's do some speculative math. Based on an earlier comment where he said he was up to 300,000 words and would cut 100,000 during editing, the final book will be about 200,000 words. That's 50 to 60 thousand snippets at a thousand words per snippet.

Four months is 17 weeks or 51 snippets at three per week. Hence early July, possibly late June.

Pretty sure your math doesn't quite work out, since 50-60 thousand snippets @ 1000 words/snippet = 50,000 * 1000 = 50,000,000 words.

Yeah, there's an extra "thousand" in that sentence. It's obviously 50 to 60 snippets.

I wasn't aware he lost it. He's currently posting snippets four four different books at Eric's site. That's where I go to read snippets, because there's frequently a bit of a discusion about each one.

I am not sure how all this happens or why. But RFC handled his own posting for LAMA and RTH. Due to his frantically busy schedule and perhaps other factors, the snippeting for those books was erratic and unpredictable with long periods between snippets that was somewhat made up for by longer snippets.

I can comment no further because this is all I know.

I suspect the issue with LAMA was that it was published by Tor, not Baen, and Tor probably didn't want to see parts of the book on either Eric's site or fifthimperium, where the snippets from Eric's site are archived. Road To Hell has a coauthor, and that may have also influenced the decision.

Amen to that!

I'd almost rather have no snippets and a definite publish date to looking forward to; rather than a fairly regular stream of great snippets to really get us going, followed by weeks of nothing & wearily checking to see if something had appeared :-(

PS I do realise that we have no 'right' to snippets at all, so I hope this doesn't sound too 'spoilt brattish'.

No there isn't a right. But past practice creates the expectation of snippets.
